All we see is article after article that Star Wars is failing because the world is full of bad Star Wars fans.
Stay on this site, then. It's nice and safe.

they can't have an opinion? They can't complain?
Of course you can, but you should expect others to have something to say about those opinions and complaints.
From the article:

Those fans — a minority but a loud one
The article is clearly talking about the assholes harassing these kids because their "childhoods were ruined," and it's 100% correct on that point. The article I referenced said the same thing.
Some of those assholes might post on this forum. If that doesn't include you, great. Don't act like I even attempted to stop anyone from having an opinion by pointing this out.

Here is an interview with Peter Berg.
He uses the same excuse for why Battleship failed.
It was his release date. . .competition with Avengers. . .
Star Wars is up there with Battleship. . .so you have that going for you.

I thought John Campea had a good discussion about the Kathleen Kennedy issue.
He discusses in this video that he doesn't think Kathleen Kennedy is going anywhere unless she decides to step down on her own, or the next Star Wars movie is a commercial flop.
And in this video he talks about why he think she should step down. Keep in mind he's been a fan of all 4 of the most recent Star Wars films (that includes TLJ). But some of the major reasons why he thinks she should step down are because she didn't address the division in the fandom over TLJ, and every movie besides the 2 Saga films has had major issues. I agree with him on both of those points. We forget that it's not just Rogue one and Solo, both of which had their issues (massive reshoots for RO and behind the scenes problems, and firing Solo directors halfway through). There's also the issue with Josh Trank being fired from Boba Fett, and Trevorrow being fired from episode 9.

Not to mention the toxicity of the fanbase
I have to agree with this. Whether you have a legitimate reason for liking or disliking the recent star wars films, there's just no denying there are so many toxic fans out there. I know the people who disliked TLJ aren't the only ones who are toxic. There's many who liked it who are part of that toxicity.
But I've got to say many people who disliked TLJ for legitimate reasons are kind of freaking me out. The Lord of the Rings holds a much closer place in my heart than Star Wars ever will. I loved the books and the films just as much as any Star Wars fan loved the original trilogy. But FFS as much as I hated the hobbit for it's complete bastardization of Tolkien's work (and the previous films), I still NEVER freaked out as much as Star Wars fans who hated TLJ have.

shite over 60 posts in the Solo thread are from TWO posters who didn't even see the movie. They just want everyone to know they are boycotting. Lol

Right. You are using the same arguments for a SW movie tanking, that he used for Battleship tanking.
So congrats, young man

Cool story. One of us is correct, and the other is trying to save his career. I trust that you're intelligent enough to figure out which is which.

Yep, and they aren't the only ones, either. They're just the loudest.

And what was done with The Hobbit was just cashing in. Jackson still remained true to the characters.
TLJ was seen as disdainful of the lore and the iconic characters. Then they follow up with a whole lot of "if you didn't like it, it was because you hate women leads and minorities."
It is ire, but the ire was driven by Disney.

Or you are both making the same stupid excuses, when the actual answer is the most obvious.
Battleship= nobody gave a shite
Solo= Hardcore fanbase stayed home

Solo= Hardcore fanbase stayed home
I haven't seen anyone say, "I don't go see movies at the end of May!" or "I had to make a choice between IW and Solo and I chose IW!" Maybe people wanted to see IW twice or Deadpool OVER Solo, but then you have to ask yourself why an audience would prefer a fringe R-rated superhero movie over fricking Star Wars - the highest grossing franchise of all time. That's what these deniers can't come to grips with. Deadpool was closer in genre to IW, released closer to IW, in the dead middle of May... but it does way BETTER than Solo with zero competition being released over the following two week?!?
That's not some "vocal minority" shite. And it's not just hardcore fans. This is getting repetitive. People lacked interest in the movie itself. Many because they didn't like the last SW product and also because the marketing was pretty terrible. That's not a "boycott".

People in this thread are making way too much out of TLJ. “I was a fun BUT I have TOTALLY given up due to TLJ!” is crazy. It was a bad movie, but if stuck with the franchise through all three of those fricking prequels then TLJ shouldn’t be some big breaking point.
With that said, I hope Kathleen Kennedy steps down or is given the boot. Not because of any SJW/anti-SJW stuff, but because nearly every movie she has overseen has had a lot of turmoil and trouble. It’s clear things aren’t running smoothly over there.

Or maybe they had shite to do because it was the end of the school year. Or maybe they decided that they already watched two movies in as many weeks and decided to spend the holiday doing something outdoors with their families. Or maybe it's a combination of all of it, with an extremely small percentage of that coming from the four people who have melted the most about TLJ.
What we know that it is not is the 'hardcore fanbase' changing the direction of Star Wars. Some of these people legitimately think they are going to get rid of Kennedy and Johnson by staying home and melting on a college football forum about TLJ for a solid year. Nope. Not going to happen unless those two want it to happen.

I don’t think you have to have a ton of people drawing a line in the sand of “I never go see May/June movies” to say that the time of year hurt Solo. There are a lot of small factors that can take someone who may go see it and cause them to skip it.
Marketing and time of year certainly play into that.
