Holy fricking shite.

I’ve never seen that movie or that scene before. But that is legit insane for a stuntman to actually perform.

Y’all about earning your paycheck that day. I wonder if the crocs were somehow fixated in place or something like that for them to not turn around and attack him. Either way, that’s something I would’ve never agreed to. Jesus.

Dude...if you're from Louisiana and haven't seen Live and Let Die you are missing out. New Orleans and the seventies vibe, the speedboat scene in the bayou, it's a great film. My favorite Sheriff ever.

no clue about this movie or scene, but when Bear Grylls was filming in Bayou Black, they overfed that alligator for weeks ahead of filming.
He was so fat and lethargic, he had no intentions of biting anything.

Fair enough. We like what we like. Can't imagine not liking action/spy movies but that's why they make all different kinds.

Would have been super easy to rig up a mock crocodile stunt and edit in some real crocs… But that’s just not how they did things back then .

I’ve never seen that movie or that scene before.
—my my. You are an incomplete human until you see New Orleans in the 70s, snapping alligators, Paul McCartney’s score, voodoo dances and a very young Jane Seymour

Does the link include the outtake where the stuntman slips & falls into the water w/the gators?

Didn't read the article because this is mentioned in the DVD commentary. IIRC they named the lead villain after the guy who did that stunt because they were impressed with not only him doing the stunt but with how laisse faire his attitude was when he did it. When they told him what they wanted he was basically "oh, that's easy I do that all the time."

I actually had the pleasure of meeting him and his family on a few occasions. Quite a well spoken, erudite man. He got recognized so much as the sheriff that he said he was always a bit wary because most people wanted him to perform the lines for him. But after you had broken that wall and spoken with him for awhile you realized what a great actor he was.

I always figured it was a real stunt.

Now let's talk about the villain's death scene...

Wondering if Buford t justice from smoky and the bandit modeled his performance off that sheriff. He was great. Especially with him spitting tobacco. Loved it when he showed up in the Asian country (can’t remember if Japan or not) in another bond movie.

The guy that did the stunt owned the croc farm. Their legs were anchored to the ground under the water so they stayed in place for the shot.
