Basically they go into the Smithonian, wake up a transformer that is an SR-71, and then they walk out of the Air and Space Hanger, they are in the national plane graveyard in Arizona.

Just because a movie is sci-fi does not mean all logic, rational thought, and decent dialog should be set aside. Suspension of disbelief does not mean suspension of taste or suspension of any criticism.
People that give a pass to Hollywood simply because a movie is a big budget summer film are part of the problem.
The person that came up with the term popcorn film should be sent to hell for eternal kicks to the crotch. A bad film is a bad film. Popcorn makes it no better.
A summer movie can be sci-fi and not have 11000 plot holes. Sloppy writing is sloppy writing no matter how much money or how many explosions you toss in a film.
For all the people that keep saying anyone that goes to a movie like this expecting better deserves what they get.
Nobody walks into a movie hoping it will be crap.
The first Transformers movie was not bad. The second one was a caricature of the first one.

i thought it was a let down how the Constructicons were introduced. they did not show that the 5 bots that made Devastator were also individual robots. they just made him from 5 different pieces of construction equipment.

I am already incredibly sick of this movie, and I'm just typing questions about it. Sam resurrects Optimus, Optimus kills the Fallen, end of story, right?
Pretty close. Sam dies, though.
Really?
Yeah, for a little while. But then the Transformers in heaven send him back because he still has work to do.
frick you.
I'm serious.
frick you. There's no way.
It's true. The 6-7 Primes are there in the clouds like Mufasa's head in The Lion King, and tell Sam he's awesome and he needs to live again so he can bring Optimus back to life.
I may be ill.
I'll be expecting the same sort of bitching from this douchebag when the last Harry Potter is released.
Most of that rant is well founded, but some of it is just bitching. Why shouldn't some Transformers know how to spacebridge and others not? Does he run the Transforemers universe? Who is this dipstick to tell us how things are to work in Transformers universe? Why not just call out Spiderman or Superman dumbass?
What is also funny is that he had to have watched this movie like 8 times to go on that kind of rant about it.

I could have gone without the jump from Washington DC to Arizona just by leaving a building.
quote:Yeah, I noticed this also in theaters. Major fail by the editing team.
my friend saw it and said there was a massive geography fail when they characters are in Jordan and then suddenly see the Egyptian Pyramids after running for a while. Apparently Israel and/or the Siani Desert don't exist. He said he LOL'ed in the theatre at the mistake, but "the mouth-breathers around him" probably thought it was perfectly fine

You all realize Star Trek had some serious plot holes in it also right?
Not trying to defend Transforemers 2, because it had some seriously bad moments. I just agree with Cocomo. I paid my 8 bucks, I was entertained, so BFD.

You would be suprised how many people go to the Air and Space Museum and wonder where the hell the SR-71 is..

Yes Trek has many plot holes but it was a better movie overall. Also I was so happy just to have Trek back on the big screen I was willing to overlook many of the plot holes.
Having said that there were several threads on here that listed all of the plot holes in Trek which I listed many.
Next Trek will need to have a better script.
Hell, plot holes or not Tformers made a bazillion dollars so T3 won't be too far off.

We'll agree to disagree then. I agree with you, in principle, on a few things. But overall, Transformers 2 was made to make money and entertain. That's it. It wasn't made to be geographically consistent, or have no plot holes. It was a gigantic, corny, in your face explosion-fest. And it accomplished that, to the tune of over 833 million dollars at the box office.

See, I agree with that, except with shite like Tf2. You knew going in exactly what you were going to get. So you donating your money to a movie that you knew would likely suck is the problem, not people who saw it to kick back and watch shite explode for two hours.

The dialogue was absolutely ridiculously gay. It made you feel uncomfortable at times since they were trying to hard.

This is where you are dead wrong.
The first movie had a much more cohesive plot without half of the problems and random crap they did in the second movie.
How based on the first movie, am I led to believe the second movie would be so ridiculous as to be a caricature of the first movie?
I am sorry. I never walk into a movie expecting mind numbing sloppy writing nor will I ever watch a movie with such low expectations.
Once again, just because it is sci-fi does not give the writer, director and all involved a free pass to be sloppy.

I was hoping to be able to sit back and enjoy giant, alien robots blowing shite up, but what I got was giant robot balls, black ghetto robots, ghost robots, and massively huge plot holes that I couldn't get past.
Like Myth said, you can have an absurd story, and still follow basic plot lines. It's not that fricking hard.

Transformers 2 was Transformers 1, just with a few more plot holes and more gay shite (like the ghetto cars, robot balls, pissing oil, pot brownies, etc.) crammed in to make it more over-the-top.
The first one was a huge cornball fest, had its own plot holes, and was largely presented in a "don't take it so serious" manner. The second one was exactly the same thing, just with more outlandish shite to try and top the first one.
Sure, some of it the mistakes are laughable. But it was exactly what I expected it to be. Maybe I just went in with the right expectations, who knows...but I will stand by my statements about Tf2 and those who didn't like it.

SPOILERS for Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows
The difference is Harry go to purgatory, a realm within human concept. But Robot Heaven? Thats the stupidest shite ever. And if you've read the book, it is fairly obvious that Harry HAS to be killed in some way, and I think people in theaters would think the same thing. Sam didn't HAVE to die, and it just makes for an absolutely stupid plot point.

This is your reasoning: Lets pretend we're at a restaurant and I had a pretty good burger and requested the same thing the next time, except this time they added shite, horse testicles, and a dead rat in my burger. Its inexcusable.

Thank you. That was my biggest gripe last summer was not people saying how horrible T2 was or saying it sucked, it was movie snobs telling me that I was part of the problem with Hollywood.
