I forget the order since I’m not a huge fan but I’ll say the second one was my least favorite and I remember prisoner, blood prince being pretty enjoyable

My order changes over time, but a few things remain consistent.

Prisoner is always 1 or 2.
Order of the Phoenix is in the top third of movies and last in books.
Half Blood Prince is the opposite, top of books and bottom of movies. Not sure why, but it just doesn't do it for me in movie form.

Half blood prince

Half Blood Prince is terrible with the love plots and the Death Eaters showing up to the Burrow is just retarded. It's as if the Death Eaters just got shitfaced on Christmas and decided to go drunkenly frick with Harry and the Weasleys. And if they can do that and just show up, why doesn't Voldemort just show up and kill Harry?

Ron and Hermione should have been sidelined for a movie, and keep the central focus on Harry, Dumbledore, Snape, and Draco (to be fair I think they did a good job with Draco). They remove the actual important flashbacks from Voldemort's youth. And then in the end Snape just boringly tells Harry he's the HBP, and really means nothing to the audience when that scene in the book is epic. Hopefully the television series pulls this off much better.

Because it focuses on dumb bullshite instead of the crux of the plot.

Not a bad order. I always enjoyed the Goblet of Fire book.

It is odd that I agree with you on most of the books, I would swap Deathly Hallows for Goblet and Order for Chamber (I thought the Order book was boring). I disagree with a lot of your accessment of the movies though. My list would look more like:

1. Sorcerers Stone
2. Chambers
3. Half Blood Prince
4. Goblet of Fire (despite the biggest gap between book and movie to me)
5. Prisoner
6. Hallows 1
7. Order
8. Hallows 2.

The problem with Order as a book is it is way too long. Should have been 300 pages shorter than it was, somewhere between PoA and HBP in length. But Umbridge is a fantastic villain, the best in the franchise. It's also why I like Order as a film more than I liked it as a book because it cuts out all the fluff but keeps in the important things.

What am I missing about Goblet of Fire? It's my least favorite of the books and movies.

Most adolescent readers loved it because it was the first real adult story told in the series with the whole murder mystery subplot and a dynamite ending with Voldemort's return and Cedric's death.

I read it as an adult and actually thought too much of the book was wasted with the Triwizard Tournament, Rowling was too reluctant to pull away from the generic wizard school adventures - an issue that was remedied in OOTP.

Imagine still sending your kids to Hogwarts after all the deaths and shite that’s happened by Blood Prince. I always found it hilarious that the school still has students in attendance by the time of Deathly Hallows

I thought it was great for world building. It was the first time we got to see how big the Wizarding world really was and it felt like the story of Harry and Voldemort had a much larger impact than what was experienced in both the sorcerers stone and chamber of secrets.

You get Durmstrang, Beauxbottoms, etc. expanding far beyond just Hogwarts.

That makes sense. I found the Triwizard Tournament a bit long as well, so I didn't really appreciate Voldemort's return.
