I am thoroughly enjoying this so far. Almost done with the season.

I just finished the book, which I enjoyed. I didn’t realize Rainn Wilson is in the show. Might have to check it out.

6 episodes in and I've really enjoyed it. Six Thirty is the man. My wife said it's pretty different than the book in some parts.

My wife had to "read" this book for her book club. She listens to Audio Books, and we had to go on a road trip so we listened to most of it.

I enjoyed it, there was a distinct feminist tinge to it but I didn't mind it that much.

We have to watch the show next (part of the book club thing) and I have to say I am bit concerned that they will frick it up or make some of the themes way too overt.

Glad to hear people are enjoying it

I think it does a good job with "girl power" aspects not being insufferable and preachy. They actually show Elizabeth struggle with things.

Is that Ryan from The Office voicing Six Thirty?

She is very good at some things but very bad at others. A completely believable character IMO.

Larson is good in a role she believes in, but obviously phones it in for roles she took for a paycheck (Marvel).

I watched this with no idea of the back story and really enjoyed it. The feminist lean is there but is not in your face.

Larson does a good job in this role, very believable.

I also had no idea what it was about. I just knew the book was popular. It was reasonably true to it's time. It was next to impossible to be a smart woman in the 50s who wanted to do anything besides be a mom, school teacher, or nurse. My mom wanted to be a doctor and her dad (a pharmacist) could have helped her. Instead, he told her that she could be a teacher or a nurse.

I literally guessed this was going to be about a chemistry teacher.

Alright so we started watching it.

SPOILERS

They changed Calvin's death a little but it was ok, my gripe is they should have spent 1 more episode with him. 2 Episodes was way too short and they did not get to build their relationship enough to have the death even more impactful. Make the series 9 episodes if you have to. Way way way too short a time with Calvin.

Also I can already see they are going to include the civil rights stuff which was not in the book, which doesn't seem necessary to the plot at all

End spoilers

I really dislike what they did with Harriet.
