So another vote for Timberlake!

Why not?

He'll be in his forties and with the huge salaries they dish out, NBC might pay him 40 million a year to be their savior!

They can get that Danish actor that's going to be their Hannibal (the Casino Royale villain) to be his Ed McMahon.

Fallon's great. He skews much lower in his average audience, he'll get the coveted 18-34 market if anyone can

If that were true, he would have just picked you

Can someone explain what happened to NBC in the past decade? Obviously they lost Friends, Frasier, ER, etc., but it's obvious the decision makers are complete retards. Was there a change in how the network is operated? Perhaps during the merger with Universal?

Didn't Carson pick Lettrrman for the gig? Even wrote jokes for his monologue and I think appeared on Dave's show.

Sort of. Carson favored Letterman but NBC didn't want to cede ownership of the show to Dave, plus Leno was more of a "yes man" to network execs.

Fallon's entire career is a mystery to me. He's never been funny. Though yes I will admit I've never once watched his late night show, but that's cause he sucks and isn't funny.

As the story from that time went Carson did not pick Leno (probably favored Letterman based on the relationship Carson had with Letterman afterwards) and if he wasn't pushed out was pissed off that NBC didn't push hard to keep him instead of letting him retire. Supposedly Leno's PR man floated a story or two to the press on Leno being a likely replacement that also pissed off Johnny.

I hope he incorporates his Neil Young impression in to every show.

I've hated just about everything Jimmy Fallon has ever done, but the few times I've caught bits and pieces of his show, it's actually been pretty good IMO. And some of it is just straight up awesome (like the History of Raps with JT, for example).

If anyone think Leno is going to take this lying down, then they've lost their minds.

The latest news comes as Leno continues to take jabs at NBC execs including Greenblatt, who reportedly sent Leno an email to back-off on the ridicule. On Monday’s show, Leno quipped during his monologue: "You know the whole legend of St. Patrick, right? St. Patrick drove all the snakes out of Ireland -- and then they came to the United States and became NBC executives. It's a fascinating story."

On Tuesday, he made another joke: "Did you hear about this? A 28-year-old woman from Serbia has a rare brain condition where she sees everything upside down. The good news? She's now been given a job at the White House as President Obama's economic adviser. Isn't that crazy? It's unbelievable. She sees everything upside down. In fact, she thinks NBC is at the top of the ratings."

What a piece of shite. Dude is dogging on the same execs that helped him frick over countless other people in his career. And surely he can't think that the execs are solely to blame for poor ratings, can he? Does he not take any responsibility for that?

Leno is a shameless bit-stealing hack (see: Stern) who ran out Carson, Letterman, and Conan from that spot. Carson never went on the Tonight Show after Leno took it, but fed jokes to Letterman and appeared there. His last TV appearance ever actually was on Letterman.

Conan would have benefited a lot from having the show move to NYC. His humor fit the city better. To see NBC move for Fallon has to suck. Conan deserved more than a few months to take hold, and he deserved to not have that no talent arse clown Leno steal his lead in with that sucky variety show garbage that Leno did at 9.

One of the best recent late night TV moments for me was watching Conan visit Letterman about a year or so ago. Youtube it. It was great - they both despise Jay. I think Dave will pass that seat to Conan eventually. It's fitting.

I could actually see Fallon having better ratings than Conan did in the slot. Conan was and still is a quirky niche show that has a big, loyal following but Fallon can hit a broader base.
