Watched it last night and it's definitely an excellent movie and a great period piece.

I've hated on the movie for going on 30 years now just because I remember how it was marketed as heart throbby when it came out and marketed to sexually frustrated women and the Shades of Grey demographic. Must give credit where credit is due, however.

One of my favorites. Introduced the wife to it recently and now she wants to name our future children Tristan.

Tragic movie but so well done. The Colonel was awesome.

He was. When he bust out in that bear skin yelling "Whats going on here?"

Susannah was awful though.

Great movie. Loved the side characters that lived with the family. Hated that whore though.

I watch this movie whenever I see it on. Awesome movie.
I do the same with Far And Away with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman.

Anthony Hopkins has played a wide range of characters and nailed every one of them.

Legends is in my top 3.
Great story that covers a lot of time and history. I love the ending but I won’t spoil it if someone hasn’t seen it.

That and A River Runs Through It are on my must watch list when it comes on.

Tristan coming over that ridge with the horses was a borderline religious experience for young Belle.

I listen to the Ludlow’s theme all the time while working.

Susannah was a whore who ruined that family.

When she first comes to the ranch and Tristan rides over the hill, peak Pitt, she’s dripping wet

Hold the line man. All Tristans end up being theater dorks and band geeks in high school and molested by the band director!!!

11 year old BB had the Brad Pitt Legends of the Fall poster.

The meaning of the name Tristan is “sorrow” which is fitting.

Poor Isabel Two. Susannah sucked.

Appreciate the River Runs Through It and Far and Away references. After watching the movie I was thinking DAM, I wish there was another movie like this, and re-watching A River Runs Through It for the first time in at least 15 years and never having seen Far and Away will do the trick.

That's part of the reason I resented the movie for years in retrospect. All of the girls at my middle school were obsessed and me and my little friends couldn't compete with Brad Pitt, so we hated on him lol.

shite, that gif has me a little moist myself.

I love this movie, but haven’t seen it in a while. It doesn’t seem to come on very often. I thought young Brad Pitt was a terrible actor, but he nailed this and A River Runs Through It. Supposed it helped to have good material and actors to work with. You’re in a scene with Anthony Hopkins or Tom Skerrit, and you better bring your A game or you’ll get laughed off the set.

That’s something we don’t talk about much. Like playing a better tennis player raises your game, as does acting across a better actor/actress. They really volley back and forth and raise each other’s game/performances higher than their normal competency. Again, with the right material and director(s).
