A heads up that the new show Story Warz with Luis J and Big Jay is gaining traction and is pretty good
Been watching this a lot lately. Fun show. But I do feel uninterested in episodes where I'm not familiar with any of the comedians on the panel.
I just picked up a pair of tickets to the show just announced at the Mothership on June 11. They are doing two shows. I got the early one in Little Boy.

Tony is on the latest episode of Dana Carvey and David Spade’s fly on the wall podcast. It’s a pretty good interview and apparently Carrot Top will be the guest on the episode in a couple weeks. He also admitted that he fricked up the Netflix special and tried to make something that he thought they would like instead of sticking to his guns.

That’s exactly how I feel about Story Warz.

Do you live in the Austin area?

I know this isn’t the right board but do you have any food recs while I’m in Austin? Gonna be staying downtown but don’t mind driving a little if needed.

Any certain types of food you really want to try?
Posted on 5/23/25 at 9:50 am to SUB
Definitely gonna have some bbq. Love Mexican food but open to anything if it’s a must have. I know Austin has a very good food scene so finding good food should be easy.

BBQ is a must. Avoid Franklin if you don't want to wait in line. It is the best, but there are lots of others that are just about as good, including:
- Mickelthwait - food truck near Franklin
- Terry Blacks
- Blacks (on Guadalupe)
- Stiles Switch (not downtown)
- La Barbecue
- KG BBQ (Egyptian BBQ fusion)
- Kemuri Tatsuya (Asian BBQ fusion)
Mexican
- Lichas Cantina
- Curra's Grill (Oltorf location)
- Fonda San Miguel
- Polvos
- Joann's Fine Foods
- Juan in a Million (more of a dive, old school tex mex)
Italian / Pizza
- Home Slice
- Via 313 (detroit style)
- Red Ash (upscale)
- The Backspace. They make their own pastas from scratch. Very good.
Other places
- Casino El Camino - dive bar on 6th st. One of the few good bars on 6th St with great food and not a tourist trap
- Texas Chili Parlor. Historic place with very good Texas red chili. They have other varieties and good tex mex as well.
- Driskill hotel bar is a nice place to grab a drink
- Loro
- Dai Due - fine dining
- Veracruz tacos
- Tacodeli
- Snooze - breakfast / brunch
- Magnolia cafe - breakfast
Don't waste your time with Mediterranean places. There are some good ones, but nowhere near as good as what BR has to offer.

Carrot top tonight. Tony raved about this episode during his appearance on Fly on the Wall. Apparently he brought his props.

Carrot Top was great on Rogan a while back
Very kind, very genuine guy

“Tony, right?” Such a witty burn by Carrot Top, had me cracking up. Don’t think I’ve ever seen any guest do that one before.

Top 20% episode.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen Carrot Top perform. Always thought he would annoy the frick out of me. I was wrong. I love the guy. I hope to see him a few more times on KT this year.

Carrot Top developed this reputation as a bad comic, which started in the 90s. Comedians loved to hate him, when honestly, he is legit funny. I’ve never seen him live, but every late night tv appearance I’ve seen was great. I’d go see him if I were in Vegas.

He is funny. But he's also funny looking.
I think the latter influences opinions.

Also I might have an extra ticket to Story Warz on June 11 if anyone is interested.
