Netflix formally severed ties with Spacey, according to the Hollywood Reporter. In addition to ending Spacey's House of Cards run, Netflix is cancelling Gore, a biopic about Gore Vidal starring Kevin Spacey as the titular character.

Allegations of sexual misconduct against Spacey leveled by actor Anthony Rapp caused the suspension of House of Cards season 6 after having been in progress for two weeks.

Variety explained the sixth season is moving forward because Netflix feels the approximately 300 other members of the House of Cards cast and crew did "nothing wrong and should not be penalized for Spacey’s behavior."

Since season 6 has only been in production for such a short amount of time, changing the direction and focus shouldn't be too drastic of an undertaking. The Hollywood Reporter said writers are already working on re-writes.

Then what’s the point? Will there ever be a show with a more disappointing end than this?

Apparently they don't want to punish the cast and crew who didn't do anything wrong. Problem is, Kevin Spacey IS that show. Yeah...Robin Wright adds a lot to it, but I didn't tune in for her and I think having Claire carry the final season is a stupid move. Just cancel the series after five seasons and call it a day.

Good for Netflix. Doesn't matter if the series ends like shite. People don't have to watch if they don't want to. 300 less people to have their lives interrupted by Spacey's idiocy.

I’d say give them their paychecks at least.

It really should just be canceled. They're just going to disappear the main character. That means this season is just going entirely to be Claire Underwood. The worst part of the show. Pretty worthless.

I think the crew needs to suck it up.

Exactly. The only reason I kept watching, except this last season because it was so shitty, was to see franks demise. Having Claire take the fall won't be satisfying. What a truly embarrassing ending to a show.

They should just cancel the show completely. It is 100% the right thing to fire Spacey, but he is the show. No other reason to watch it without him.

It’s beaten Dexter for the show that went on the longest with the most disappointing end. Just the mere concept of not seeing Frank see his comeuppance means it’s the worst end to a show ever. Totally failed to deliver.

Should have been planned to be 3 seasons from the start, Lucas lets off the lid once he’s out of prison, and then Frank falls.

I agree this has always been Spacey's show, but Claire already cut Francis out. Watching Claire go mad with power alone, only to be destroyed at the end by Congress or whoever, could be better than watching Claire and Frank duke it out.

How the hell is that going to make any sense to continue the show? His character is the entire point of the show?

I guess the showrunners finally get their wish of a Claire Underwood spinoff.

Given how last season ended, it would be easy to write him out. I assumed they were going to end it similar to the UK version so Claire was destined to come out on top in the end. I hate every second she is on the screen so now I don't need to watch a minute of the last season.

Francis was fun to hate. Claire is just sucks the life out of the show and her rise has been ridiculous.

I was dreading watching her final chess moves to remove Francis for good. Now I don't need to watch the last pieces fall into place.

For those that haven't watched it, the UK version is a fun watch albeit slightly dated stylistically.

The worst thing ever is after she’s appointed Ambassador to the UN (no way in hell they would have allowed this ridiculous shite), she then ends peace talks between Russia and the US all because a gay guy who was cheating on his boyfriend killed himself, and then for some reason Putin wants her removed from power after being incredibly incompetent? Get the frick out of here.

Good for Netflix

I’ll bet they knew about this to some degree before it went public. Supposedly the information wasn’t super hard to obtain.

Makes sense now why Spacey fit the role so perfectly, he didn’t have to deviate far from his own personality.

Apparently the Spacey thing has been a open secret in Hollywood for some time (Family Guy bit proves that) so they blatantly looked the other way. Now people start blowing the whistle and all of a sudden Hollywood types have a conscience?? Netflix is just CYA. If they really gave a crap then they wouldn’t have hired him in the 1st place.

He has been enabled for a long time probably by larger group of pedos!
