I think this is a step to make the board better. I know I stay out of most threads and don't check out this board as often as I used to since every post was about how woke or pedo a movie or show is.

I think we should be allowed to discuss political movies as long as it's in that thread. Fatkids Matt Walsh post was fine because I was never going to click that thread but when every Disney/Star Wars etc post is calling a movie woke or complaining about the race or gender of the cast it's exhausting.

But also, many viewers want to know if a show or movie has too many woke themes because we dont want to watch that shite. That is one of the first criteria i have for a show. Is it woke bullshite? If so, no thanks. And i appreciate the board helping identify those shows for me.

This.

Exactly, some people can't understand there is a difference between a show being political and a shows casting choices/character sexualities.

Political: Argo

Not Political: The Acolyte

It's very simple, yet people can't help but bring stuff outside the show into threads about the shows.

If you wanna discuss the politics BEHIND a show rather than within it, that is a political discussion for the poli board.

I'll save you time then, according to many on this board, everything is woke. We've already had what 2 people already lob the "the left insert their beliefs into everything!". So save yourself time and only watch YouTube videos that cater to your political beliefs.

I wish the rule had more Nuance. I do agree that having the same political argument in every thread is aggravating but I do wish that we could be allowed some leeway to discuss the politics of a movie so long as the discussion stays on the topic of the movie and doesn't derail.

I do get that would be an Admin nightmare and this is the easiest fix.

yep, which is why only what is WITHIN the shows has to be the guideline to use. Otherwise there will always be people that use one writer on a writing staff's political beliefs as an excuse that the show is political therefore political discussion should be allowed

You could just simplify things by moving the Acolyte discussion to the Politics board

yeah, and 90% of all other modern Hollywood stuff too. i know Chicken is trying to keep the toxicity off the boards that should be "apolitical", but it's an impossible task. ESPECIALLY in entertainment, which, in many cases, the actual directors, producers, etc explicitly state that their messaging is political. we cant discuss that though?

or are we going to do the thing where we pretend that discussing the "social issues" of LGTBQ, racism, sexism, misogyny, the patriarchy, insert your cause du jour, ARENT political, but pushback against those themes IS political?

Granted, you absolute piece of garbage.

You, southeasternKIGE, and Sammy aren't going to know how to make a post on here anymore.

I hope this has made you so mad that you make a vow to never post on the M?TV board again. The board as a whole would thank you for your firm stance.

it's fine if you want to have a discussion about the political messaging in a show on the poli board, where politics are discussed.

Or literally anything else. Hollywood hacks weave left wing politics into everything they produce now. It's all they know how to do.

And of course, the leftist posters here don’t want a spotlight put on it.

So in this context, stifling discussion benefits them, as is evinced by the predictable responses by them here.

so movies or shows with inherent political messaging cannot be discussed on the MTV board? or we are left to only discuss...what, the lighting and sound? set design?

Also the following posts arent “political”

This show is woke

This is gay AF

Oh look they made a historically white person a black gay

Gotta love the strong female genius surrounded by imbecilic men

Literally none of those involve government policy.

So as long as you dont incorrectly classify “social commentary” as “politics” i agree.

I will never comment “this movie highlights strong arguments against Title IX or the 2A” on the movie board.

the plot/characters/themes?

If "inherent" political messaging is grounds for allowing political discussion in a show thread, then every show thread is open to political debate because someone can find "inherent political messaging" anywhere they wish.

Leftist:

Anyone who sees a thread discussing a film based on its merits and doesn't reply, "frick him!"

See: Blazing Saddles - "I didn't get a harrumph out of that guy!"

That's Disney's fault. They have made some movies and shows that the overwhelming majority of fans hate. You cant expect those fans to not voice their opinion on it.

The problem here is that we have a handful of posters who just like to argue and will do so in bad faith. The threads get stupid long and just turn into a back and forth mud slinging contest. I think when that happens the mods should just lock the thread or ban/warn the offenders.

You cant limit discussion of movies to costumes and lighting.

No, it's a total coincidence that the people cheering this thread made by a 30+ year Hillary simp are the same jerkoffs who agree with the political messages and/or try to gaslight everyone into believing they aren't there.
