As usual, you’d be incorrect. I’m a right leaning libertarian and greatly dislike a lot of what’s being hamfisted into our entertainment but if I want to discuss, I’ll go to the Poli board.

Ditto. I’m waaaaaayyyy right of most of this board and consider myself a regular contributor but posting on repeat about how terrible the acolyte is and keeping the thread alive just so you can rage post about it is a pretty beta move. While I probably agree with SEK, OML, or Critical Drinker about their takes, there’s no need to make that my entire personality.

I saw the ads, saw interviews from people that were making acolyte and said cool, not for me. Sometimes that should be enough and you move on.

I’ll address something like civil war or “woke” (God forgive me) BS in the acolyte by saying “this looks gay” and move on with my life. There’s no need to rage post about it.

Or I’d even say, have a single thread dedicated to “anti-woke” and post dumb quotes by dumb people in Hollywood saying dumb things or video updates from Nerdrotic, Critical Drinker, etc. keeping it contained to a sandbox is better than not having anything at all or having it infest every thread.

this is the most sensible conclusion

That's what this entire website is- for a certain segment of the populace.

It is. The same gaslighting snowflakes who RA'd the most are now here calling everyone snowflakes.

But it's not even politics that causes the problem. It's whenever two or more posters get into a subject and it becomes a back and forth bitch fest, page after page. That happens all the time on this site, on every board. You'd have to outlaw all discussion to prevent it.

But social commentary isn't politics. If there's a thread on here about a movie directed by some fat lesbian who refuses to cast white guys because she's a sociopath, that's fair game. I'm not starting a poli board thread about it.

These sandboxes used to be called threads and they were whacked or moved when they didn’t adhere to board standards.

It’s based on nothing like most of his statements.

So weve seen bunch of pretty good ideas brought up, but we're still going to ask Chicken to do this?

Like I said earlier my guess is he was tired of hearing the crying so he issued the statement. So far in this very thread we’ve seen the types who’ve called for censorship unload political vitriol without consequence so either one side is being protected or, more likely, the board will operate the way it always has.

Somehow, none of the supporters of this change have been able to differentiate between the thread I created about a Matt Walsh film compared to other similarly styled films. Are we going to get any takers or are the short-sighted among us going to keep pretending this is a good change while not actually addressing what such a broad rule would actually mean in practice?

Here, I'll quote my post so you don't have to jump back 4 pages to find it:

quote:

If we cannot discuss Daily Wire movies (not podcasts) on this board then this "no politics" rule is too broad and will destroy this forum. Clearly, only some of us are smart enough to see that. Seriously, if Matt Walsh's "Am I a Racist?" film, which will be released in theaters even, cannot be discussed, then there really needs to be an understanding of what line that crosses as it is very much like a great number of other films.

Where is the line?

Is it because it discusses a political issue? So...the Central Park 5 series shouldn't have been discussed here? What about movies and shows about Watergate? No good? JFK? Lincoln? Bowling for Columbine? Fahrenheit 9/11? Fahrenheit 11/9? All the President's Men? The Manchurian Candidate? What about Veep or even Space Force? American History X?

Is it because Matt Walsh is a political commentator and he made the film? So...no more Michael Moore films? Surely anything by Dinesh D'Souza is absolutely out, right? Oprah, Whoopi Goldberg? What about Spike Lee or Ta-Nehisi Coates? Does Lena Dunham get a pass? Are ANY Daily Wire films okay? Can we discuss "Run Hide Fight" or "Lady Ballers?" I mean, they're all technically being put out by political commentators right?

Is it the style of film as a undercover "gotcha" filming style to trick people into embarrassing themselves? So we can't discuss Sasha Baron Cohen films anymore? No Borat, no Borat 2? Tom Greene's style of comedy is out now? What about Jackass and the spinoffs to that? They did some of this too, right?

Is that gif from one of the shows I mentioned? Or is that you throwing in the towel and admitting you can't differentiate between the examples?
