Man. I forgot how much this movie really put a glow on amateur college football. I know most of the movie is bullshite but it was almost hilarious to watch how they portrayed CFB compared to what we know it is now. It makes me almost sad at how big the sport has gotten now and that it may eventually tear itself apart over paying players and what not. It was nice to think about how the sport used to be a lot more humble and blue collar and was by and large just kids playing ball as opposed to the professional tryout its become now and how inflated lots of the egos have seemed to have become. IMO a great movie that I treat more as a "story based on..." rather than a non-fiction retelling where you may get hung up on the details.
I will say it did bother me in the beginning when the kid's friend asked to watch Indiana-Purdue at halftime of the Notre Dame-USC game when both of those teams historically play in different weekends of the year. Also the family is from Illinois so why one of the kids would want to watch Indiana-Purdue and not Northwestern-Illinois also broke the suspension of disbelief for me.

As TV became a huge deal, owners found more and better ways to monetize the pro leagues. That money trickled down to players. And those large numbers have understandably become the focus of the best college and high school athletes. It's not difficult to understand.

I wonder how many walk-ons showed up at that Spring '94 try-out.

Rudy could kill the Night King if given the opportunity to come off the bench.

Back in '92 Uncle Rico could jump on the NK from a quarter mile away.

A man and his son are both in a helicopter crash. The father dies on the scene, but the boy is rushed to the nearest hospital.
When he arrives the operating surgeon says "I can’t operate on this child, because he is my child"! How is this possible?
