When we evacuated to the middle of nowhere for Katrina, my brother-in-law and I took a trip to Walmart where I bought a TV/DVD combo, and he picked up the first season of Lost.

It wasn't a show that was on my radar, but I figured I wasn't doing anything better. After watching the first couple of episodes, we had to stop ourselves from binging the whole season in one day; only watching an episode a night after dinner.

I was hooked.

Regardless of how one might feel about the ending, and how all the mysteries are or aren't explained, it was a hell of a ride.

I’m on a rewatch.

As good as season 1 was, I think it got even better in 2 and 3.

Alrighty so I finished season 1 last night. Not gonna lie was not expecting the teacher to get blown up. That one made me laugh pretty bad. Overall looking forward to watching the rest of the show. Knew the raft wasn’t going to work but was anxiously awaiting to see why and was not expecting Walt to get kidnapped.

Ok so just watched the episode where they flashback Hurley in the psych hospital and it shows Libby there too. Has to be one of the weirder episodes so far but also one of the most thought provoking as far as what the actual heck is going on

I watched it for the first time about a year ago.
Couldn’t stop watching it and it is probably the best series I’ve ever watched. Such an awesome show with so many characters who you actually care about and have great arcs.

Enjoy!

I just always assumed it was just a show with people lost on a deserted island trying to survive

Just think of that as the sandbox that was created to tell you the character and lore stories.

Now, I must warn you - we were relatively late watching it, too, just about 7 or 8 years ago, but still - the things the fans experienced in real time, you might not with a binge. Without much spoiling (some is unavoidable if you search for things, so be forewarned about that), we were prepared for the flash forwards, flashbacks and "flash sideways" (something effectively created for the show). As long as you are prepared for the supernatural elements and those plot devices "the flashes", it is a great show and worthy of GOAT consideration.

My best advice is - try to experience it from the characters' perspective and not try to rationalize every single detail out.
