Have they ever revealed Robin Master's true identity?

Pretty much the same as in the original.

They floated the idea of having Tom Selleck play Robin Masters.... but that never really got off the ground.

The impression was that it was Higgins all along. But they never did straight up come out and admit it. Not that I recall.

I wonder if they decided to float the idea that it was Higgins since the man who voiced Masters (Orson Welles) died around 1985.

I saw a synopsis of the plot. Magnum is hired to go undercover in a nursing home to find out who is stealing all the prune juice

I love the idea of it being higgins and he’s just giving magnum. a hard time

If true thought they came up with that idea later in the show because you see Robin Masters’s hands in an early episode and and heard his voice and it was Oraon welles.

Of course Welles died during the shows run i

I think I tuned out a bit toward the end of the series, but early on I thought on a few occasions they made some casual reference to it being Higgins. All very cleverly done.

I spent a summer about 10 years ago watching the original run of Magnum PI. Holds up.

In the finale Higgins says its him but then tells Magnum he was joking at Rick’s wedding.

It makes sense if it was him but would also take some retconning to truly believe. A lot of early episodes have believable plots involving an actual Robin Masters.

Only been 40 yrs, but shouldn’t be too hard to imagine that a wealthy writer could hire a sock puppet to act like the real RM is somewhere or doing something while he (as Higgins) carries on with his charade.

For all of you that are disappointed…. Great news! There’s 5 seasons of Magnum that just finished last year. I mean, isn’t this just as good? Right?

Yes, Larry Manetti is still living (but had suffered a stroke). He and Selleck are still alive.

They even brought the real TC in for the new Magnum reboot. I loved the original back in the day and would often times go into a rabbit hole on YouTube and rewatch a bunch from time to time the last few years to the point I got into the first few seasons of the new one. It was cool at first that they at least tried to keep with the original theme but the whole Higgins and Magnum love affair got old.
