I really like the idea of a female Jedi lead

I do too. It was my very first thought when the sequel trilogy was announced. It’s an easy way to mix it up and I see no reason why a female couldn’t be as strong in the Force as a male. Too bad they fricked it up.

Personally I’m holding out for a KOTOR series with Revan and Bastila Shan.

I can dream...

No, KOTOR would have entertaining characters, a coherent story line, and true character arcs.

Dreaming of that combination from the modern Star Wars movies is the path of madness my friend.

It’s unbelievable to me that they (at least yet) aren’t focusing on a KOTOR trilogy. If I were in charge, I’d highly organize the trilogies, like first do the sequel trilogy, then KOTOR Trilogy, and then go from there. But give the Star Wars Story films to individual film makers to go nuts with. Imagine a Guillermo Del Toro Star Wars movie. That would be amazing. Yes you have to set some boundaries, but if they don’t go past them, let them do just about anything.

Some details would be so nice so we can discuss

Bland characters
Boring action
Just a boring all around film

I cared more about blue leader, who was in the movie for like 5 minutes, at the end of the movie than I did any of the main characters

The problem is Rey is perfect. This could be explained away by saying she was in the Jedi Academy and Kylo Ren took her to Jaaku to save her from Snoke. But no, she has no struggle. The fact that she doesn’t lose in TLJ is ridiculous.

All of this. I cant even describe how mad I am about the way RJ botched Rey's arc. I was so excited after TFA because I thought that she had the potential to be one of the best characters in SW if she was fully developed as a character. Ridley is great in the role as well. It's a damn shame that anyone green lighted that shite from Johnson that was TLJ.

Rogue One is the best of all the Star Wars movies IMO.

It was pretty damn good, that's for sure.

I want a KOTOR movie with Kate Beckinsale as Bastila.

My needs are few.

I thought it was a little long (I got bored at the midpoint) but as a whole, I enjoyed it a lot more than 7 or 8.

She becomes a Jedi Master five minutes after picking up a light saber for the first time and kicks the ever loving shite out of the main villain in this trilogy.

Welp. Ok...maybe we can flesh that out and make sense of it by her background...

Welp.

frick it all to hell. Don’t get me started.

frick Rian Johnson up his dickhole with a cactus.

I very much enjoyed being back in the original trilogy time frame. The movie dragged a little in the middle but I really enjoyed it overall. And seeing Vader again was great.

Rey fought well with her staff already and Kylo Ren was a conflicted, insecure apprentice that had just murdered his father and was bleeding out from a mortal wound. It’s easy to believe.

That’s not the issue that ruined Rey and that she’s perfect. She received zero training from Luke and experienced no low point in her character development that should have taken place in a second act.

that is literally irrelevant in light of force, which is required in a fight like that. the force takes over, bro, it's not her bow staff skills as a normal human without the force.

kylo ren had enough force/dark side power to stop freakin laser beams

i think the bastardization of Rey's development, especially in light of the force, is the symbol of how RJ approached this chapter completely wrong. he either was fully ignorant to the mythos or, more likely, wanted to destroy the mythos to "make his own movie". that mindset is what made TLJ terrible

it worked in Rogue One because the force wasn't really a part of Rogue One (the actual reference or "use" of it actually was pretty bad in R1). he can do his gritty team of misfit characters and it works there, but in the actual trilogy with established characters? no

the thing that always cracked me up on a meta level with the "SJW" arguments for TLJ was how "the Force is female" but he completely and utterly destroyed the female lead of the franchise. how he wasn't raked over the coals for this by that ilk, i'll never know

He also did two things we'd never seen before, which would allude to him being a pretty bad arse force user. He force grabbed a laser bullet out of a blaster, which was an awesome way to open up this new trilogy and show how powerful Kylo is. He is then shown pulling thoughts from peoples mind, something we've only seen Vadar and the Emperor do, although they did it effortlessly. They came out and made him seem pretty bad arse, which was awesome, and then he routinely gets his arse kicked by some 100lb chick that can swing a staff, and then all of a sudden use the force without having any knowledge or training.

Now they could have taken this two different ways from TFA. They could have kept Kylo a bad arse throughout the movie and not seem like a little bitch when going up against Rey, but they did not. Not a big deal. They took the route of making this unknown in Rey this naturally gifted force user. That's fine as well, but we've yet to figure out anything about why she is capable of doing this, and we've got history of some pretty powerful force users that have not done anything like she has without training. I say all of this and all of that is fine, if they'd simply explain it better. I would hope episode 9 would tell us why she can do this, but i don't expect it, and i'm not watching it anyway so who cares. We've seen Finn have a light saber battle with Kylo that lasted longer than 2 seconds, which is fricking retarded. If Kylo is the bad arse they initially showed us as, then he'd simply make Finn slice his own head off with the lightsaber in his own hand immediately. There would be no fight.
Both TFA and TLJ is just full of contradictory actions and characteristics, mainly by Kylo, but also Rey, and of course, Leia, and physics too.

The first two acts are worthless. I don’t hate Rogue One, but if you were to miss the first 2/3 of the movie, I don’t think anyone would be remotely confused. Too much filler in it and the characters blow.

i enjoyed the first 2/3 because it was pretty immersive in a legit SW universe setting. i have always been a proponent of expanding the settings of the movies to show different areas within the galaxy and i think Rogue One did a good job of this

I fell asleep during Rogue One and I wish I would have fallen asleep during Last Jedi, so Rogue One wins. Yay Rogue One.

The first two thirds are also very poorly edited and paced. You can tell that there were multiple visions for what this movie would be.

The final act was great, but I'm also a total geek for space battles. I've re-watched it several times, but I've only been able to watch the first 2/3rds of the movie once.
