Yeah the first third or so was just bad bad. I described almost exactly like you did with it trying to be a shitty spy action film.
The worst part of Dominion is that for the most part, it had very little to do with actual dinosaurs, which completely misses the point of why most people love them to begin with.

I'm usually easy to please when it comes to escapism flicks, but I couldn't get through Dominion. In addition to being unimpressed with the CGI, they really piled on quite a bizarro storyline in the first 15 minutes...

This must be the most expensive B-movie ever made.
I kept expecting MST3K to pop-up on my screen.

This one really was awful. It sucks too cuz i liked the first 2 pratt and there was some really good new dinosaurs introduced.

It was so fricking bad, it didn’t even feel like a JP movie more like a shitty SiFi movie. They completely abandon the actual interesting idea of dinosaurs in the human world for locusts and a boring arse clone girl for whatever reason. They bring back Dodgson and even BioSyn but they’re basically a waste. As far as I know there was no mention of BioSyn being the big rival to Ingen back in the day. I think like one or two characters actually get eaten and none of the main cast dies and never felt any tension with them because you knew they didn’t have the balls to kill off any of them. Pratt grabs the Dilo by the throat like he’s in some cheesy B movie. Yeah the dino that killed Newman gets choked out by Starlord. Grant and Ellie are ok and Malcom is just there to be a parody of himself. Colin Trevorrow should never be allowed to write a Jurassic Park script again I honestly believe that a fan script would be better than the shite pile he wrote. The raptors which used to be incredibly scary and fierce get turned into a pet, and the T-Rex acts more like some random action hero or ex Machina for the characters rather than an actual animal which is another problem I have with the JW movies. In the JP movies there was no Blue or”Rexy” just dinosaurs being dinosaurs. You felt like these were actually just animals hunting or protecting their territory not mascots that were one step away from having a catchphrase. As much as I don’t like JP III, the dinosaurs acted like real animals even if the Spino acted more like a horror villain. I actually liked JW and liked parts of FK, but this one had zero redeeming qualities which sucks so hard because the movie focused on some stupid locust plot and but the dinosaurs on the back burner. How do you have the concept of dinosaurs living along humans and not go with that? You could literally make an entire tv series with that idea

This. I saw Dino’s eat people and that made me happy.
My only real complaint was that they nerfed Pratt in fallen kingdom and dominion.
Pratt shines as comedic action star and they tried to make him pretty stoic. I get he wasn’t the star in dominion.

The biggest problem I have with the JW series is how in the hell is Aunt Claire not in jail after the events of the first film?
Hundreds of people died due to her incompetence. If this were real life, people would have looked at what Elizabeth Holmes did and said, “Yeah that was bad, but dinosaurs didn’t eat any of those people.”

Yes, in the book their rivalry was way more discussed. The inclusion of BioSyn sounded great at first but like everything in the movie it fell flat

It was the least enjoyable JP film I’ve ever seen. The first of the new trilogy had some good things, even it’s follow up. No redeeming factors of the last.
As bad as the Allen Airplane Raptor in JP3 was, it still leaned into the monster horror vibe. They fricked up leaving the island(s).

I watched this on prime. Holy Hell it was bad. So many holes, so many wtf moments that are just bad. I'm shocked the original actors agreed to this.
