TDKR is a good movie

It was a kinda okay movie. I'm sure a lot of the problem was having to scramble to rewrite a movie around a lame character like Bane because the show-stealer just died, but it just wasn't a very good story.

Yeah, the Joker comes around the same time as Batman. He's the ying to his yang, not the other way around.

Assuming the kid is Bruce, the Joker we see in the trailer isn't the real "Joker", otherwise there would be a crazy age difference.

We addressed it in the other active Joker thread. Which is why having multiple threads on these movies is a bad idea. The same discussions and arguments get regurgitated.

By the way, Caesar Romero was 21 years older than Adam West. Nicholson was 14 years older than Keaton. It's not unusual for the Joker to be portrayed by an older actor.

You're missing the point. I don't care if the actor is older if the characters are presented as close to the same age. The characters here clearly have a huge age gap, which is dumb.

Joker and Penquin and a lot of the other villains seemed to be way older than Adam West's Batman. He was a young guy and they were older guys, some were much older.

I never thought for a second that Keaton and Nicholson's characters were similar ages. Especially since they made that Joker the murderer of the Waynes.

I've pretty much divorced this Joker from the rest of DC canon.
It's almost like a what-if scenario, or a singular artist's depiction of the character.

I don't see what the big deal is.

This is clearly not meant to be the first of a series of Batman-related movies.
It's a one-off.

the big deal is that people are not able to let go of the past and allow a movie to be judged on it's own merit - everything has to be compared to other movie iterations of the character.

it is honestly amazing people enjoy movies anymore.

Yeah, I agree.
Maybe we should stop looking for ways things are bad and start looking at how something might be good.

I agree - sadly that idea will be lost on the vast majority of the board.

a younger jack napier killed bruce waynes parents in the 89 batman... i'd say theres a solid 10-15 year age difference between the two here

You have no idea about the story line or who most of the characters in the trailer are but yet there is already a problem with it?

With the Black label defanged and Johns not having the control he used to this story might be brushed aside and DC hasn't told the fans yet.

Yeah, I thought the Joker killed Bruce's parents when Bruce was a child in one or two Batman stories.

Is that incorrect?

It's correct in Burton's version.

Aye, Jack Napier replaced Joe Chill in the Burton stories.

Hamill's Joker was an active Hitman with a reputation as shown when he killed Andrea Beaumont's Dad in Mask of the Phantasm. He probably had 5-10 years on Bruce when that happened.
