I figured the audience was fat and ugly chicks who think any guy who isn't interested in them must be gay. Brokeback Mountain probably perfectly explained to Jaycelin why Brad from the office wouldn't frick her.

The crew is now out of work, and stakeholders in the film still need to be paid. Losses could exceed seven figures.

...the odd part of this is that they ever thought this might not have losses exceeding seven figures.

"Brokeback Mountain".
Might be the only gay love movie that ever does well, and that took the full power and fury of basically all global media. The gay rom com bombing should have been a clue for them.

The Texas board is now active and they actually do like all the gay stuff.

Aggies act gay. Longhorns actually are gay.

The producers are being drama queens. Bring in a script doctor, tone down the sex scenes, and start filming a couple of weeks later. Happens all the time with Hollywood movies.

There’s a scene where you see Anne Hathaway’s tits that’s worth Googling.

Was it the sequel to “Bros?” No one wants to watch that shite hence the reason that movie failed hard.

Does every random comedy that underperforms live rent free in you guys' heads like this (cuz there's a lot of them)?

It wasn’t a random comedy, it was the groundbreaking first ever gay rom-com that was marketed heavily and then when it bombed the maker blamed it on bigotry

Maybe. Considering the director and nature of the project, this is likely a very small budget. The production probably already had a tight shooting schedule. Now these investors would be paying for locations, equipment, and crew that are sitting idle. You're rescouting and booking new locations. You're potentially hiring replacements for the crew that will have to leave during the new shoot for previously booked jobs. Same with the other actors.

I'm sure it's possible to salvage, but it's definitely an expensive headache, at the very least.

That movie looked so low effort it was ridiculous. They were obviously banking on being the first gay rom com rather than being a good rom com.

And did they not sign Phoenix to a contract by this point? If not, they are stupid as shite and deserve all this crap.
