Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty, The Martian) has been mentioned around the Internet as a possible actress to play the adult Bev in the upcoming sequel to the wildly successful horror film IT. Chastain is interested in the role, according to an interview with ScreenRant. Chastain was being interviewed alongside Idris Elba for the film Molly’s Game and they were asked about playing the adult Mike and Bev.
Elba said he hadn’t seen it, but when Chastain was asked about her name being out there for the role, and how serious the talks were getting, she said, “Well, I love Andy [Muschietti} and Barbara [Muschietti]. I worked with them on Andy’s directorial debut, you know, his film, Mama. His first film. And you know, Barbara is one of my best friends so…we’ll see.” Elba added, “Get me in! I love that movie!” Chastain followed up with, “Listen, of course, I want to work… they’re my friends. They’re like my family. Anything that they’re doing I want to be a part of, so I hope we can make it happen.”
I'm sure this will be a done deal. It will probably just come down to whether or not they want to pony up the money. I'm sure with as successful as the first one was, that will be no problem.

She's actually perfect...even given the casting of the movie. She was who I saw in my head reading it for the first time before the movie came out.
I'd go with either Amy Adams or Bryce Dallas Howard as Audra, fwiw.
Love Idris, but he's not right for Mike. Way too confident. Maybe go with Chitwetel Ejofor.

Hope it happens. She's one of my favorite contemporary actresses.

She's hot, and she's a good actress. I approve of this.

Should be an easy decision

Chastain is perfect. Pretty sure that was the consensus in all of our threads.
Elba is just getting thrown around for any role now. He doesn't fit every role.

She is so unbelievably perfect for this, it's almost ridiculous. And she's best friends with the director.
The only thing that would keep this from happening is money.
Make it happen WB.

Chastain as Bev and Amy Adams as Audra would be PERFECT casting (if you've read the book you know it)
I'm getting really excited about the possibilities for Part 2.

She really is.
As much as I bitched about the movie not matching the book, I'm still super interested in the idea of casting this story. though admittedly I'm not as interested in casting based on the movie's adaptation or their casting of the kids. Most of whom were fine I thought, but if you want them to match the adults it might have been easier to cast the adults and match the kids to them...
With that in mind, based on the book, this is who I'd have cast as the adults, though some wont work because of age...
Bev = Jessica Chastain
Bill Denbrough = Anthony Edwards (circa 1995 would have been spot on)
Ritchie Tozier - Sam Rockwell
Ben Hanscom = Bradley Cooper
Mike Hanlon = Chiwetel Ejofor
Eddie Kasparak = Adam Scott

Kristen Wiig is going to play Bev.

Looks wise, Wiig better resembles what the child character would’ve grown up to look like. Chastain is way hotter.

Seems like he’d be too old too

January embers,

I wrote that just for her. She's attractive.

Sounds great. But I do think it's hilarious that every red headed female role that pops up has always got to be Chastain and every black male lead role that pops up has always got to be Elba or Ejiofor

I'll bite.
Chastain's a great choice NOT just because she naturally has the red hair and is the right age, but because she's shown that kind of range as an actress. Bev is strong, but broken. She goes from girlish to hard assed in the blink of an eye. Chastain's done lots of stuff, but the role that makes me thin she's great for this is ger role in The Help.
Idris is just a bad choice. He's nothing like the character.
Ejofor could pull it off though. Mike is quiet and sort of blends into the wall. He's a librarian, the keeper of the watchtower. I'd have said Don Chedle would have been great, but he's WAY too old at this point.
