George is actually the most likeable and decent character in any movie ever.

Watched first first time this year. Enjoyed but wasn’t quite what I expected. Good story

Another thing this movie does is it always leads into me wanting to see the flip side of this tale in Family Man. Love that movie too. I don’t mind the just see what coffee leads to

I love Family Man maybe because it has some of the same plot dynamics as IAWL which is my all-time favorite movie. I'm amazed how many folks have not seen Family Man, I always recommend it to those who have not.

"My big brother George, the richest man in town"...water works every dang year

While that is a great quote...the one that always gets me is this scene...

quote:

[George has discovered his brother Harry's tombstone]

Clarence: [explaining] Your brother, Harry Bailey, broke through the ice and was drowned at the age of nine.

George Bailey: That's a lie! Harry Bailey went to war! He got the Congressional Medal of Honor! He saved the lives of every man on that transport!

Clarence: Every man on that transport died. Harry wasn't there to save them, because you weren't there to save Harry.

Clarence: Strange, isn't it? Each man's life touches so many other lives. When he isn't around he leaves an awful hole, doesn't he?

Clarence: You see, George, you've really had a wonderful life. Don't you see what a mistake it would be to throw it away?

I have found myself using “Aww, youth is wasted on the wrong people!” more and more as of late.

You guys won't believe this... I decided to watch it again tonight and some jackoff decided it was a good idea to add modern background music to it scenes all over the place. Effing deal breaker for me.

Violet always did it for me. She had a crazy life. Married four times and her last marriage was to her second husband's son. He was much younger than she was.
