It was the one scene where I legit jumped. I didn't expect him to come out of the screen like that.

I will say I got a kick out of my Mom's multiple moments of turning her head and giving out an "Oh shite, Oh God" a few times when stuff happened.

James Badge Dale could possibly pull that off. I really think Goggins has the depth to pull of Bill/writer type character.

And for the exotic Audra, Sarah Shahi

Saw it tonight

I must say I'm pretty surprised at the overwhelming praise this movie is getting on here. Not saying it was a bad movie, I'm just surprised how many people "loved it" or thought it was "fantastic"

The kid actors were really good. The 80's setting and tone was legit and the music was good as well. But it's supposed to be a scary/horror movie and for me it really wasn't. The only scene that got me was the projector scene. Pennywise was pretty good but every time it was another type of monster it was a miss for me. The design of 2 of the faces were almost laughable.

Overall it was a decent movie with plenty of unexpected laughs but not enough scares. I'd give it a 3/5

Putting the words "Chapter One" on the screen is your definition of heavy handed?

saw IT friday absolutely loved IT...

pros: kids were fantastic so freaking funny, ive seen reviews where they dont like bill i loved bill he got me when mike is attacked by bowers in the house and said i have to help him that part got me. pennywise was awesome instead of being a clown hiding that he was a monster he was a monster pretending to be a clown. the vision scenes were well done the headless boy really freaked me out that was probably my favorite scene. loved the bowers scene where he kills his dad, did not know that was in the book but i knew pennywise will use him from the mini series, when he sees pennywise on the tv and pennywise gives him that little smirk saying i have you and i will use you.

cons: idk if it was the screen i saw it on but the lighting was really dark sometimes i could barely see. i wanted to hear pennywise talk more when he is messing with the kids individually i wanted him to talk more, the scene with eddie bill and richie was fantastic and creepy when he looks at bill and says "this isnt real enough for you" "it was real enough for georgie" freaking loved that interaction and just wanted more of it with him and the kids individually. lastly wanted more balloons and more "youll float" absolutely loved the georgie opening scene but if i could have changed it i would want pennywise to show him a balloon and tell him it floats everything floats down here, also wish they would have shown him actually ripping the arm off and swallowing it, the scene was amazing but i felt you lost out a little not seeing him just completely rip his arm off and eating it.

the cons are small which makes the movie a 9/10 for me absolutely loved it and cannot wait for part 2

no, see just that he's a clown is scary, but they had to make him a scary clown which wouldn't be bad except they cast skarsgard who gives more of a chester chester child molester performance as opposed to child murdering sewer monster disguised as a clown..

Saw the movie this evening. Loved it. The novel is one of my top 3 of all time.

The young lady who plays Beverly is going to go a long way. I think she has that, um, "it" factor.

Projector scene:

Hate how they made Mike "the black guy".

this is the only thing about your post I agree with. I was scratching my head a litte bit myself seeing how easily they took him out Otherwise this is the closest thing to an excellent horror movie that I've seen in awhile

I also loved the 1980s "doing work" montage when they were cleaning the blood out of Beverly's bathroom. It wasn't quite up to the standards of the actual 1980s, but I got what they were going for and appreciated it.

d. the georgie scene was easily the most horrifying given the armless writhing in the water.

The Georgie scene was the best part of the movie but at the same time sort of ruined the rest of it for me. I enjoyed it but I couldn't help but wonder why Pennywise just didn't kill them in 1000x he had the chance too.

yeah, the repeated scares of the kids got really old. if he has to scare them to make them taste better, why wouldnt he just freak them out and eat them. georgie wasnt even that scared, he was laughing at one point.

He doesn't HAVE to scare them to feed.... Just prefers to.

Also, It had never been hurt or felt fear. So after the Losers' Club jooged him at Nieboldt, shite got personal.
