The destruction of the Enterprise was disappointing. Not the fact that they destroyed the ship, but I didn't like how they destroyed it.
It started a habit of wrecking the Enterprise for shock value/trivial reasons.

True. If the destruction of the ship served some purpose in the overall Nexus plot, it would have worked.

Seeing Kirk and Picard on screen together made that film worth it.
And then Picard buries Kirk on a remote planet under rocks. They couldn't give him a proper funeral?

Idk, but thanks to this thread I know have this stuck in my head.
Lifeforms...
You tiny little lifeforms...
You precious little lifeforms...
Where are you?

Was that one from Generations or Insurrection? Seems like Data sang in more than one of these movies. In looking back at what I remember of Generations, it seemed like that had some good base ideas, but it was clumsily put together. Insurrection had horrible CGI and seemed like a two-part TV episode I had seen before.

Generations - The Lifeforms song
Insurrection - A British Tar by Gilbert and Sullivan
Nemesis - Blue Skies by Irving Berlin
And I'm not even ashamed or embarrassed that I know that.

Didn't want this thread to fall off the first page.
I'm of the opinion that they could have stopped the entire ST franchise after TWOK. It was that damn good, and the ending would have been the perfect sendoff to the series. But I'm probably alone in that sentiment (FTR, I enjoyed TVH and First Contact immensely).
Best thing is, my youngest (17) has become a huge ST:TOS fan, and we've been watching the entire series on Netflix. We just watched Space Seed, and I can't wait to spring TWOK on her

TVH is a hoot and has an awesome soundtrack.
TWOK was a great 1st movie of the trilogy, with TSFS the necessary (with darker tones) medium, to the lighter (and more hopeful) last movie.
Should have stopped there.

While Star Trek V was crap, I thought Star Trek VI was a good movie and had a nice ending (aside from the fact that Sulu was missing in the final shot).
"Second star to the right. Straight on til morning."

I don't think ST VI gets made if ST V had actually been a good film.

This thread has me wanting to watch the Next Generation films. I've watched the original series films a bunch, but have ignored NG over the years.

It's honestly not my favorite Star Trek film. It's a good movie, but I don't see it as one of the best sci-fi films ever made.

Generations is trash. It's probably my least favorite Star Trek film. The premise is sound, but you can steer the Titanic through the ocean of plotholes in that film.
Insurrection is a movie I kind of liked, but when you watch it, you have to go into it understanding that there's little reason why it couldn't be a multi-part TV episode.
First Contact is the best one and probably my favorite Star Trek movie. I don't even think you have to be a Star Trek fan to enjoy it.

People complain about Insurrection being just like a two part episode, but to tell the truth, that's what I like the most about it.

I'd switch 3 for 5. But the UC is not bad at all.

The best thing about Insurrection was Donna Murphy.
