I am listening to NBA sports analysts contemplate the future of sports viewing and virtual reality being a major breakthrough. I think VR is cool but I don't see it being anything that will actually catch on with the masses. I equate it to 3D. It was cool for a little while but I don't think it will last.

Virtual Reality isn't really a thing and won't be for some time, unlike AR and MR, Augmented and Mixed Reality. Those are gonna be a lot of fun once the tech becomes advanced enough. Having said that, with the amount of resources that companies are putting into VR and all of the headsets that are avaliable right now, you could say that it's a fad. Just not a very good one, and honestly, I don't see how people are woo'ed by it because the tech just isn't all that extraordinary right now.

Maybe VR will be awesome once we can do some Tron-level shite, and be able to be fully immersed(if that will even be possible) and be able to create a simulated reality much like our own (think the Matrix.)

Augmented Reality

Mixed Reality

It's not a fad. It is here to stay. It will have many applications beyond just entertaining us. It will improve and become cheaper.

Yep. The tech just isn’t there...yet.

Does anyone honestly think sedentary gamers and garden variety pervs wouldn’t be all-in on this?

I ‘member when this clunky shite cost twice as much to play, and now look at where 1st person games are.

I think it is, remember how big it was around 1996?

There were vr arcades and a vr nintendo. We are probably 20 years from great vr so the next wave will stick.
