Captain America. The original was okay, the sequels were awesome.

Rambo? No. First one had an emotional appeal and depth to it the other's didn't have.

Though The premise is a little confusing

Why did the cop have such a hard on for him?

Haven't seen it in 20 years. I also seem to remember thinking Rambo was kind of a bad guy

Started with him just being a dickhead cop with too much ego, then things escalated quickly.

Is the new Apes Trilogy the only trilogy where the first movie is the worst and the third one is the best?

I think it's what keeps it from being the best trilogy of all time.

I remember the first one and just being meh about it. Then Dawn blew me away.

Yeah, same feeling. War, as good as it was, didn't blow me away like Dawn did. I feel very comfortable saying that Dawn was the best of the trilogy.

No way.

First Blood and the franchise almost follows the Rocky saga to a tee.

If you want a real movie about a real person struggling in life - the first ones are both perfect.

First Blood is a real commentary on society after the War; Rocky won best picture.

If you want cartoonish over-the-top action bordering on ridiculous - then you follow the sequels in both Rocky III, IV - fighting the Russians in Rambo III - I mean Rambo fights TWO Russian divisions in Afghanistan all by himself.

One of the most ridiculous scenes in movie history

Dawn was one of if not the best times I've had in a theater

Granted I don't usually go to the theater and when I do it's some stupid shite someone else wants to see, but the fact remains

But what's curious is that it didn't seem to resonate like say the dark knight instantaneously. 3 years later and it feels as if it's been mostly forgotten. The only strike I can list is that the human characters are competently developed but not visually and none of them are charming or memorable.

Like I said, I've never seen them. But it seemed like the popularity of II and III far outdistanced I. I know it didn't explode until the sequel.

well as I recall 1 isn't the double fisting machine guns caricature that became common in action movies in the 80s. II definitely was...I can say definitively 1 is better than 2

1 was good, 2 was not.

II was the one that Reagan quoted, and the one they patterned the Nick character after on Family Ties. I assumed that II was the more popular one.

It was certainly a bigger box office hit. Iirc First Blood was released in the fall and was kind of a sleeper hit. Rambo: FB part II was released Memorial Day, as the Big Movie for the summer

With the Damon Bourne's, I still like one best, then three and then two. Love him wanting to know anything about himself so badly, then he finds out what he did.

Just got back from war for the planet of the apes

Awesome. Not as good as dawn of the planet of the apes but no shame in that.

Saw it last night.

5/10

Would have been so much better if they had trimmed 35 minutes from it.
