I found the 3rd one to be really, really good, but it's not unbelievably better than the other two.

I've never seen one, but didn't the Rambo movies get better and better?

The Purge and the second one were pretty awful in my opinion. I enjoyed the the third one with the politicians though.

I keep hearing that it's better than dawn...going to be really tough, but that anyone could say that leads me to believe it's better than the first.

the first is pretty good, ok. Serkis is amazing, but it's not even in the same stratosphere as dawn

I think a lot of people would agree that the LOTR trilogy got better with each one.

I think Toy Story, Bourne, Evil Dead can all be argued that quality went 1<2<3

Yea but nobody thinks Temple of Doom is better than Raiders. The OP is about a trilogy where 1<2<3. he just worded it weird.

Oh...but if I'm being honest, I like Temple of Doom the best. Out of all four.

That's definitely a minority opinion though.

i think the LOTR goes in ascending order

Only saw toy story 3

Bourne...saw the first and they made 5

Evil dead I've only seen army of darkness.

Or you can look at it as this rare trilogy where each story builds up into a great movie crescendo.

IMO the second film was a bit better than this.

also, for those that have seen it...how are you feeling about matt reeves writing and directing batman?

Very good! I hope he scrapes Deathstroke and just goes with Red Hood.

The second doesn't seem to have any resonance with people but it is easily one of my 10 favorite movies

Nah Toy Story 2 was the weakest of the three.

even if it does everything right, the dynamics of dawn were so original and interesting.

it wasn't ape=good, man=bad...but it wasn't moral ambiguity either.

it seemed to be heading towards a by the numbers oldman is the bad guy who does bad things way from the previews but koba is the villain. gary oldman isn't a bad guy. he wants to kill the apes and even though the viewer is emotionally invested in rooting against him as the opposition, you totally understand his motives in the sense that you may do the same thing in his position with the information available only to him.
