I enjoyed Ruth's character. She isn't close to the worst character on the show, much less in history.

I'm almost done with my first watch of 6 feet under...and she is just awful
She made very deliberate strides for self-improvement and self-liberation - all while having to deal with the loss of her husband and 3 snotty kids who only wanted to take take take.
She learned the virtues of self-advocacy and refused to be steamrolled anymore.
She acted like a frickING SAINT when George royally fricked her over.
And then she lost her first born.
She was always there for people - including Brenda.
Seriously, if a viewer isn't compelled by her character's arc, I don't see how they could like the show at all.

I just finished Ozark and was disappointed that Wendy didn't get blown away like everyone else on the show. Weak ending too.
