Is Robert Pattinson judged only by the Twilight series?

He has been in many other films and has been fantastic in pretty much all of them.

He was good in the Twilight movies, it was just a generic un-challenging role. You can't judge him for the source material being shitty.

Judging only his acting ability:

Really Good

Water for Elephants
Lost City of Z
Cosmopolis

Bad

Little Ashes was a bad performance, and a worse movie

Truly Great Performances

The Childhood of a Leader
Good Time (fricking balls out, amazing)
Map to the Stars

He has another movie out this year that is supposed to be bad arse.

If you have issues with his ability, cool. I mean, I question if he can be a real action star as Batman. . .

. . .but you can't question the guy's talent. He is a really really good actor.

Just needs to shake off the Ed Cullen millstone around his neck.

I've seen a few people mention this. I'll have to check this out this weekend on Prime.

A lot of those movies people have never seen. The Rover is another one. It’s too bad, because he’s a legit good actor.

ETA: I would even go further and say some people would shy away from watching those movies strictly because Pattinson is in them.

Very good film that was overlooked in 2017.

No doubt about it.

It would be different if some of the other movies weren't under the radar movies. But for now, yea.

How was this movie beyond Pattinson's role? I read the book and enjoyed it. I meant to see the movie, but I think it came out around the time we were having a baby

I've never heard of any of those movies. Didn't watch any Twilight. Learned his name when I saw he would be Batman.

The public forgave Gyllenhaal and Ledger, and they actually "stemmed the rose" as Randy Quaid liked to say.

being an actual cowboy homo isn't nearly as bad as being in twilight. That level of homosexuality transcends dimensions.

I feel like the RP is a good litmus test to see if people on this board actually really like movies.

Because i dont think about Twilight when i think about RP. Dude makes a lot of weird, cool, interesting movies. And trust me, RP doesnt need you to tell him how dumb you think Twilight is...i can guarantee you he hates it more than you do.

He reminds me of Shia. Anyone who thinks Shia is the Transformers guy hasnt been paying attention.

His roles the rest of 2019

The Lighthouse
w/ Willem Dafoe

quote:

The story of an aging lighthouse keeper named Old who lives in early 20th-century Maine.

The movie is set in 1890 and was filmed on 35 mm black and white Double X film stock, augmenting the Panavision Millennium XL2 camera with vintage Baltar lenses designed in the 1930s. To enhance the image, making it resemble early photography, a costum cyan filter made by Schneider Filters that emulated the look and feel of orthochromatic film from the late 19th century was used.

After years of trying to get The Witch made, and failing, Eggers turned to his brother Max in 2012, who had been writing a contemporary ghost story that took place in a lighthouse, thinking that a scaled down, more contained story might be easier to get made than The Witch. But The Lighthouse was put on the back burner once The Witch finally was financed and started filming in 2014.

The King
w/Ben Mendelsohn, Timothée Chalamet, Joel Edgerton, Sean Harris

quote:

The King is an upcoming film adaptation of several plays from Shakespeare's Henriad,

Waiting for the Barbarians
w/Johnny Depp, Mark Rylance

quote:

A Magistrate working in a distant outpost begins to question his loyalty to the empire.

The Devil All the Time
w/ Tom Holland, Bill Skarsgård, Sebastian Stan, Jason Clarke, Mia Wasikowska

quote:

Set in rural southern Ohio and West Virginia, The Devil All the Time follows a cast of compelling and bizarre characters from the end of World War II to the 1960s. There's Willard Russell, tormented veteran of the carnage in the South Pacific, who can't save his beautiful wife, Charlotte, from an agonizing death by cancer no matter how much sacrificial blood he pours on his "prayer log." There's Carl and Sandy Henderson, a husband-and-wife team of serial killers, who troll America's highways searching for suitable models to photograph and exterminate. There's the spider-handling preacher Roy and his crippled virtuoso-guitar-playing sidekick, Theodore, running from the law. And caught in the middle of all this is Arvin Eugene Russell, Willard and Charlotte's orphaned son, who grows up to be a good but also violent man in his own right.

Eh I was with you until this. I dont hate Shia but he hasnt proven himself to be a really good actor like RP has. He's been in some decent movies but nothing that makes you step back and think about how good of an actor he is.

But you are right, he's not the Transformers guy; he's the Holes guy, HEY O!
