Yes. It’s great. And I read a ton of Stephen King. I’d put it top 5 in adaptations of his books

1. Stand by Me
2. The Shining
3. Misery
4. IT
5. The Green Mile

Yeah never understood why King didn’t get more shite for that. He wrote a good story that devolved and ended up in a blatant pederast fantasy.

Just finished the book and I swear he talks about Bev’s panties like a dozen times and mentioned the boys’ boners several more.

It’s a good book and that didn’t take away from it or anything, but I felt uncomfortable as it kept popping up.

I didn't understand the hype after watching it. I must say the opening part with George and Pennywise in the sewer is fantastic. The guy playing Pennywise did his best part there and he didn't act it the same way the rest of the movie.

He was also playing to a different audience for the rest of the movie.

The long descriptions of sex acts between 12 year olds just didn't fit the story.
It was dumb.
Two kids hooking up, okay.
The entire group taking turns plowing the one girl? Stupid.

Yes
They got their bank but I can see where the book readers would not have been happy removing the controversial scene.
I did not read the book so from that standpoint it was probably a better viewing.

The Green Mile over Carrie or Christine or Salems Lot?

King was drugged out of his mind by his own hand quite a bit.

This was one of those times.

From interviews it seems it's a little of column A) artist integrity that he kept that in, and column B) shame that he wrote that, penance that it's out there.

He's also always been eh on sticking the landing on his novels.

So pick your poison.

Not sure quite what he means. but it could be adaptations versus quality. Or his opinion. or quality and adaptation combined. Idk. lol

yeah just purely my opinion of the movies. I know I'm in the minority there.

ETA: either way the new IT is still ahead of all those, only trailing Stand by Me, The Shining, and Misery IMO

I always forget about The Shawshank Redemption. It's based on one of his short stories.

That HAS to be up there in the top 5.

Yeah, it's a well made movie. I enjoyed it. More creepy than scary. Don't think it relied on the whole jump scare thing.

best review under 20 words you will find.

Penny wise is scarier than Jason and Freddie and Michael Myers combined

Definitely. If for no other reason, Finn Wolfhard is hilarious in it.

This. And that comment/paraphrase of King shows a monumental lack of understanding for such a smart guy.

Yes. But due to the recent growth of really good indie horror (It Follows, Insidious, Conjuring, You're Nexy, etc.), it isn't quite as good as some of those movies. As a big budget horror film it is very good. As a King adaptation, solid, but a little thin.

If you like horror, it's a must. If you like King, it's a must.
