Horizon: Chapter 1 is #2.
The fact that 2 pretty solidly meh movies can go to Netflix and immediately hit the top 2 seems very suspect to me haha.
Are people really that desperate for mediocre movies and have no other streaming options than Netflix?

Number 1 is Carry-on?

You underrepresent the “ what’s something new on Netflix to watch , we’ve watched everything else” type of posts on Facebook and people are lazy and immediately recommend the stuff that’s just been added
And then it starts to hit the top ten charts and bc people are lazy, people see the list and then also start watching bc it’s right there on the trending lists

Why? It's not a measure of "what's good," it's a measure of most watched. In fact, movies like this are exactly what would likely show up on most watched. In the Heart of the Sea was a box office bomb - which means no one saw it. Now that it is "free" on Netflix, people are watching it. But it doesn't mean that it's good or that people like it.

I remember really wanting to see ItHotS and, once I did, being sort of underwhelmed by it. It was entertaining enough, and I enjoyed it just fine. But I think I went in with too high of a bar maybe. Solid movie though.

I watched A.P. Bio years ago and now that it came to Netflix I have seen more people finally recognizing it.
I bet Glenn Howerton is pissed that it didn't launch there

I think you underestimate how many people live on Netflix and need something new to watch.
There's also a lot of people watching Netflix who aren't exactly looking for Citizen Kane. They just see Chris Hemsworth and Kevin Costner on the cover art and say "why not?"

I read the book and loved it. Was so excited when the movie hit HBO several years ago. Did a rare "turn it off" after 30 minutes. Opie really disappointed me with that one.
