I feel I really can't make a list yet since I still have a lot of movies from this decade in my netflix queue that I haven't seen yet

quote:

still haven't seen:

The Departed
Mystic River
There Will Be Blood
A History of Violence
Before the Devil Knows You're Dead
Running Scared
Hot Fuzz
Taken
Insomnia
Capote
Redbelt
Spartan
Walk the Line
Eastern Promises
Amores Perros
The Machinist
Inland Empire
Infernal Affairs
Dark Blue
The Transporter
The Pledge
The Yards

If you haven't seen most of theses movies, man, I hate to break it to you, but you're barely a movie fan, those were some of the biggest movies of the decade.

The Transporter

WTF? Do you even think this would even have a remote chance to rank on yours/anyone's top 10 for the decade? Sure, nice popcorn flick, and I think Statham is cool, but c'mon.

Most of you think you're conossieurs (sp?), and see yourselves as the true barometer of movie quality...but most of you sound like coffee house pussies.

Are you trying to call me out? I think you need to read more carefully cause I clearly stated the reason I have not seen all of these movies that I listed because I don't devote all my movie watching time to this decade. I watch movies from 20s,30s,40s,50s,60s,70s,80s,90s,00s. I'm sorry if I don't spend my time focused solely on movies from this decade. Excuse the frick out of me if there's 20 movies I haven't seen yet, oh yeah that shows I'm barely a movie fan.

frick you a-hole. I clearly stated that I don't know if any of the movies I listed are great, I never made that claim. I only stated that these were the remaining movies from this decade that I would like to see.

I'll gladly compare my favorite movies of all time list to yours anytime you feel like it. You need to take a step back buddy cause you're acting like a real jerk here for no reason.

ooooooohh...would you really? Thanks man. But I don't need my favorite movies vindicated by you. Thanks for the offer though.

Now, please shrink away and frick off.

Hahahaha. Favorites vs. Favorites. This should surely produce a clear cut winner!

Oh it's not for me to vindicate you. It's so you can show everyone here how much more impressive your movie knowledge is than mine. Which should be easy for you since you've seen 20 movies from the 00's that I have yet to see.

I know huh.

How could anything as concrete as that not produce a clear winner? It's basic math really...

I can't beleive anyone who has been on the M/TV for more than a week would ever think to accuse constant cough of not liking movies.

Do you even read posts on this board?

How come when you say "frick you" to me, that's acceptable, but when I say "frick off" back to you, that's me being a tough guy? Do you even pay attention to what you type, or do you just drift in and out?

Forget it. I never said anything at all to this guy before and he comes on here calling me out for no reason.

I'm sorry that there are 20 movies from this decade that I haven't seen. I'm sorry that one of them is The Transporter. I'm barely a movie fan compared to all the high brow films he watches.

I'm hardly high brow man, I can enjoy Super Troopers as much as I enjoy the original 12 Angry Men. If you're as well rounded as you say, then I almost feel bad for ruffling your feathers, but if you're as much a movie fan as you say, then you know what I mean about a lot of the posters on the M/TV Board...too many critics, not enough fans.

I've noticed that you have watched some good movies from your other posts. That's why I'm a little surprised that you haven't seen some of those on your list.

Memento would be my number 1.

2-5 would probably be:

Oldboy
City of God
No Country for Old Men
The Prestige

Like I said, this will be the list for next year, Top 50 or 100 for the decade.

This is probably close to my top 5, minus No country.

And what the heck does this mean honestly?

I mean there aren't enough, "The Hangover is the great comedy of all-time!!!!!!!" threads that have been posted all summer? Mostly from people who wouldn't know Groucho Marx from Peter Sellars?

I have always thought we have a decent balance of folks. Fanboys and critics, sure we get it into sometimes, but hell, I'm a fanboy for City Lights I admit it.

Lord Of The Rings should be 1,2,3. That movie theater experience was what going to the movies is all about IMO.

Read my posts, I'm not that guy in any way.

I don't really see that. I see too many people that I would equate to the guys who worked at Rob's record store in High Fidelity...who I agree, "wouldn't know Groucho Marx from Peter Sellars." Among other things...

but hell, I'm a fanboy for

As movie fans, we all have some fanboy in us.

Perhaps I was a little rash with Cough, but I never even noticed him before like three days ago.

I know, I wasn't accusing you, just in general.

Really? Threads saying Event Horizon will I quote, "Stand the test of time," or how the aformentioned Hangover is better than every comedy ever (seemingly including Caddyshack which is ludicrous), the balance is there. I admit I make an effort to get good debate going, but I find it hard sometimes.

If we didn't have balance, threads would go like this:

Post 1: The Dark Knight is the greatest movie ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Post 2: Yeah!
Post 3: It was so awesome I splooged myself!
Post 4: Me too!
Post 5: I think I'm in love.

And so forth. We get good criticism in here often enough.

quote:

I would equate to the guys who worked at Rob's record store in High Fidelity...who I agree, "wouldn't know Groucho Marx from Peter Sellars."

And most attempts from the knowledgeable folks are to get people interested because that stuff is good too. Kafka does a good job of this. I try to (the list next week). Honestly, I don't see much high brow posing around here.
