I didn’t care for Seinfeld when it was running.
Syndication is when I really “got it” and the genius.

The 90’s Simpsons are still the cleverest sitcoms ever written.

To me, Seinfeld has never been LOL funny...more of a peaceful, sarcastic, mindless funny that leaves a constant smirk on your face.

Most nights I go to bed watching Seinfeld. There’s just something about it that just relaxes me and puts my brain at ease.

Not a sitcom but you should watch Impractical Jokers

If you like I can add you to my plex. I have every episode of all these shows.

Comedy is somewhat time/age driven. SNL was hilarious back in the day with steve martin with an arrow stuck thru his head and the king tut routine. Nowadays, I would think the same routine as just being silly, even if its the first time I saw it. Seinfeld was great, now I think its good, but not great. What is funny to an individual is always evolving. And not everyone likes the same thing to begin with. Carol Burnett was hilarious back in the day, now I wonder why I ever laughed at her skits.

I'm right there with you. I've snickered at Seinfeld a few times, but other than The Contest, I can't say that I've laughed out loud at it.

To be fair, while Family Guy isn't exactly intellectually-challenging, it has a lot of pop culture references (or did back when I actually watched several episodes, no idea what it's like nowadays.) You need a pretty broad range of pop culture knowledge to get all the jokes.

That has nothing to do with being "educated" or "smart".

Seinfeld is littered with pop-culture and topical references as well. There is nothing on Family Guy that is funnier than the JFK reenactment that they do with Kramer and Newman, especially considering the fact that Wayne Knight (Newman) is in the same scene in JFK doing the same thing that is being parodied by Seinfeld. And oh yeah, his character's first name in JFK is "Numa", which sounds an awful lot like Newman.

Love the show. I watched it when it was airing and still love it today, however, I'm not going out of my way to binge it or anything now that I've seen it and know most of the episodes.

Favorites:

Serenity Now
"It Moved"
The Bet
JFK reenactment episode
Risk!
Soup Nazi
The episode where George steals his girlfriends clock to see her again.
Kenny Rogers Roasters
"Was that wrong, should I have not done that?"
George sleeping under his desk
Almost every episode with J. Peterman

1. It’s not really a show that’s great for binging.

2. Seasons 3 & 4 are the best.

I grew up with it and still love it. How old are you, probably makes a big difference if you can't relate to 90's comedy

the best thing weed ever did for me was helping me see how contrived and unfunny the "humor" of seinfeld was.

George Costanza is one of the best characters in the history of television.

I love Seinfeld, but quit watching Veep cause I found those characters so unlikable.
