10. Watch the movie one last time. Congratulations, you've done it! Oh, if your ear is bleeding now, don't worry, it's normal.

With time travel, nose bleeds are a more pressing concern than ear bleeding. If your nose starts to bleed, then you don't have much longer.

There's that whole "timeless artifact" thing with the compass that knocks it down a little, however.

If you like movies that make you think, you will love it!

It's one of my Top10 movies of all time. I still get confused sometimes while watching it even though I know what is going on.

explain this theory in regards to the compass

Inferring from what is shown on the show, the compass is never created nor destroyed. It lives in a 30 year cycle of being given from Locke to Richard, to Locke, and repeat. It is impossible to explain how this compass come into existence in the first place without the fabric of Lost's time travel mechanics breaking down.

How did Locke get the compass? Richard gave it to him.
Ok, so how did Richard get the compass? Locke gave it to him.
[rinse and repeat]

To be honset, I really want to see Hot Tub Time Machine. It looks really funny.

I also like the original Terminator, which I feel does a good job with the time travel paradox (essentially, you can't change the past because it already happened).

"timeline" has a very good concept on time travel... But unfortunately the book explains it in great detail while in the movie we are treated to a retarded Paul Walker just comparing it to a black hole fax machine

Crichton should be pissed... but then again, it's not the first time his novels have been raped

Sure, but all timeline cycles have to start at some point. That's why the phrase is "stuck in a time loop." Time isn't cyclical, only the individual chracter timelines are cyclical.

Events took place prior to Locke giving Richard the compass the first time around. Now, what I think the compass/journal do prove is that it is possible to alter the past.

I think that's part of the genius of the movie... It makes you want to research it more, watch it again, etc etc...Everytime you watch it, something "new" clicks in your head.

I know what you're saying, but I could come right back with "How? If he only received the compass moments before flashing and giving it (back) to Richard".

The worst was Sphere. The novel is my favorite Crichton novel (I've read them all except the latest). It was a very good commentary on human psychological development and how different stages of evolution created our current state of mind. The movie was a retarded underwater adventure.

Donnie Darko had a cool take on time travel i thought. Don't know about being 'realistic' though.
