Jennifer Hudson has been in weight watchers commercials as a spokesman. So you have probably seen her. She was also in the news a few years ago when a bunch of her family were murdered. She has also had acting success.
Philip Phillips won last year, but his song "Home" LINK has been used all over TV for the past year. Supposedly the US gymnastics team used it as their anthem at the Olympics.

I don't watch any of these singing shows but has The Voice contributed to the downfall of Idol? I always hear about how much better the singers are on The Voice, that Carson Daly isn't near as much of a douche as Seacrest, and the judges actually care about the contestants instead of themselves. Just wondering if it is that much better.

I think dilution of the market for these shows has hurt all of them as well as the lack of constant success from the contestants
But the biggest problem is that its been on for fricking ever. Cant think of a show that has gone on forever, and this show has stayed about 7 years past its time

I haven't watched a single minute this year, and I basically can no longer watch any show whose format is "Person does something, then 3 or more judges make their comments one by one." The whole damn genre needs to DIAF.

That's because Nikki Minaj knows absolutely nothing about musical talent. She doesn't have it, nor can she spot it.

Agreed. I skipped watching for a year after Simon Cowell left. I watched last season because there was absolutely NOTHING else on that I wanted to watch in that time slot. This season, I refused to watch as soon as they announced Carey and Minaj as judges. frick that.

I'd like to think Harry Connick Jr's attack of the judges and the way the singers were singing classic songs has something to do with Randy getting the heave ho. He was the the one that was pushing pretty much every single thing that makes Idol performances vapid, soulless radio filler.

I havent watched a single episode this season. Not one. When I saw they made Nikki Minaj a judge, whos career isn't even longer than Carrie Underwood's, I just laughed.
I didn't think randy/jennifer/steven were a bad combo.
