I didn't think randy/jennifer/steven were a bad combo.

They are responsible for Scotty Mccreery. Credibility shot. That guy can't sing and he won. No way he should have even made the show.

And your credibility is shot with comments like that.

I'm not a fan of him or that style of music, but the kid can sing and has a great voice for country music.

Once Simon left that show went to shite.
happened before that.

Show went to shite when Taylor Hicks won.

After that, every top-12 has been ringers.

Every.

Single.

One.

Your credibility may be in tact, but your ears suck. Dude cannot sing and shouldn't have won.

I think no one gives a frick about this show anymore and it needs to DIAF since the time has past for it to gracefully step aside.

I don't watch any of these singing shows but has The Voice contributed to the downfall of Idol? I always hear about how much better the singers are on The Voice, that Carson Daly isn't near as much of a douche as Seacrest, and the judges actually care about the contestants instead of themselves. Just wondering if it is that much better.

It's possible. The Voice has far superior singers on it. Plus, they skip all the bullshite (the auditions where the people are terrible just for comedy). Even the people that get cut early from the Voice are really good. I haven't watched AI in a few years.

Take a 10 year break and come back. Ratings will be high due to nostalgia. Like Kurt Cobain said, "It is better to flame out then fade away".

Actually watch both shows (wife is a die hard idol fan and liberal use of the dvr).

The big difference is that the Voice is fun. Idol takes itself so seriously. The song choices are all almost always boring (Barbara Streisand?). Theme nights are awful- the teens either have never heard of the songs or you get Scotty/PP types doing the same thing but calling it "rock" or "motown" Judges are a joke- though I do enjoy Minaj.

Idol can bounce back, but they need to cut so much of the crap- way too long auditions, awful judges, songs people actually know.
