My wife thought the gurl power scene at the end was too cheesy.

In the comics, Angela, not Hela, is Odin's firstborn. Her actual name is Aldrif Odinstotter. During a war between Asgard and Heven, she is thought killed in her crib by the queen of Angels. As punishment, Odin orders Heven (the 10th Realm) cut off from the other 9 realms and any mention of it in written or spoken form punishable by death.

It turns out the queen took the infant Aldrif as her own daughter. She's also a lesbian, so it checks the SJW box.

Thanks for the extra info. I like the MCU pseudo tie-in.

I disagree. They didnt have her do anything that Thor and the Hulk could not.

Oh sure. Let’s see where Hulk rammed through space ships. But that’s not even the point. Miss Marvel, yes I’m calling her that because that’s who she is, is not stronger than Thor or Hulk. She was made that way for one specific reason. People who disagree are lying to themselves.

Captain Marvel is supposed to be cocky and powerful. She’s a hardass tomboy. I really like that character.

The issue is that the role was miscast. It’s hard to pull that off and still be likeable. Larson doesn’t have that range.

He didn't keep up with her in Civil War II either.

This is laughably bad. Stark created parts of his armor to beat Peter Parker’s spider sense. He created armor to combat Thor. He created armor to repel Magneto. He is one of the smartest humans alive. Ms. Marvel is inconsequential to him.

Right. Marvel is clearly the most powerful hero. She zips around space, destroys spacecraft, including Thanos’ huge ship, effortlessly. She went toe to toe with Thanos and even seemed stronger than him. She is basically Superman, who was too overpowered for Justice League movie, except she doesn’t even have the kryptonite weakness. On top of that, she is arrogant but humorless and has an ugly butch haircut, so she’s not even nice to look at.

I liked her solo movie more than most on this board, too.
