I don't get the complaints about Dany

She's always had a veneer of kindness over a ton of destructive insecurity and the leap from entitled to jealous and vengeful isn't a huge one. Plus she's a woman so I don't really see how any heel turn can be that unrealistic just as a matter of human experience.

Good luck trying to make it through the Mereen scenes on the rewatch knowing it means literally nothing.

It pretty much takes a piss on her entire arc to this point. She learned nothing since she was a teenager who thought the world owed her something.

Why did I waste hours of my life watching her frick around in mereen if she’s just as bad as the Slave owners. Why did I have to hear her and other talk about she’s different than her brother and father for 7.5 seasons but at the last second actually she is just like her father and brother. It completely undermines her entire build to that point.

Umm, that's the point. When everything crumbled around her, she reverted to her true self - the mad queen.

Literally 2 posts ago you're bitching because no one changed and that's a sign of bad writing and now you're bitching because Dany changed

This board is the only place I’ve seen positive opinions of season 8 after episode 5

ETA: I haven’t watched an episode of GOT but watching the reactions is fun

Dany didn’t change. She’s the same entitled brat she was in episode 1.

Nah dog that Cercei pussy is too good I’m going back!!

You say this like it doesn't happen all the time in real life, particularly after long relationships.

Ok, then how is

Young entitled brat
Young entitled brat humbled
Young entitled brat coming into her own
Entitled brat with kind veneer
Entitled brat as queen
Entitled brat queen becomes evil when she senses challenge and realizes her dream won't come to fruition

An unrealistic story arc?

It’s not a story arc at all. It’s a waste of time.

It just seems they skipped a few steps going from ‘ yeah she’s got some dark tendencies’ to a totally murderous psychopath. Going mad queen doesn’t bother me but the route there was pretty sloppy

Yes, some people are exactly who they were. Jaimie has been through some shite, got his hand cut off, stabbed in the back by his sister, helped kick off the Stark/Lannister drama, saved and created unlikely relationships, fought the dead, tried falling in love with someone else, tried playing the good guy, and in the end, he's still stuck on his sister, wanted to die in the arms of the woman he loves (his words), and no one else really matters (his words).

Honestly I would not have minded what you were looking for in his end too, but his death made sense here as well

It was exactly how it should have ended.

The people complaining about Jamie just got duped into thinking he was getting a full redemption arc when he told you himself multiple times that he was always going back to Cersei.

I find it a bit perplexing people want a slow burn on someone going mad. If the tendencies and family history is there, it's a pretty quick process in the real world too.

I don't have a problem with her going Mad Queen. It just makes no sense for her to snap after she defeated them and heard the surrender bells ringing. It would've made more sense had she gone scorched earth at the beginning.

Makes plenty of sense.

She wanted to burn KL. She said so last season but Tyrion talked her out of it.

This was her last chance. All her emotions had built up to that point.

Why? It made total sense. Jaime was in love with Cersei. People do otherwise stupid things for love. Jaime even said "The things we do for love." She was carrying their baby. Jaime letting Cersei die alone while he stayed in Winterfell to be With Brienne, or Jaime killing Cersei would have no sense.
