It was a really fun movie. Decent storyline considering what it was based off of and the Rock was great in it. Very good movie for the family. Better than Jumanji. It's not gonna win any Oscars but I definitely recommend it. Two hours of swashbuckling adventure.

I really think The Rock diluted his brand too much in that I expect anything he's in to be mindless dreck. Granted he's already gotta be among the highest paid actors of all time as a result, but I rarely have a desire to see his movies.

I’ll just watch The Mummy. Practically the same movie

See, I see the Rock as elevating mindless dreck to the point that it’s at least entertaining and watchable. If I see a silly cgi action flick with a thin plot, but the Rock is in it, I know that it won’t feel like a complete waste of time. I’ll probably leave the theater reasonably entertained, which is what I go there for. I’m not looking for masterpieces every time. I’m often just looking for 90 minutes of fun, and The Rock delivers on that nearly every time.

Is that supposed to be an insult? I love The Mummy. It’s a great and underrated adventure movie. I like movies like that. Heck, I own a copy of, and regularly rewatch, Prince of Persia. I’m a big fan of Indiana Jones. Give me a 90 minute fetch quest period piece with some history and mythology thrown in, a decent villain, and a charismatic lead with on-screen chemistry with an OT7+, and I’m there.

That's the thing. The movie actually had a decent plot.

There's always room for fun movies like these. Not everything has to be dark or establish some political point of view.

I find it odd that Dwayne Johnson is like the biggest movie star on the planet, but I feel his filmography is full of films that you kind of have to be reminded exist. And what’s weird is some of these films aren’t even that old.

Like does anyone remember Skyscraper?

Hell I had to be reminded that San Andreas was a film that existed.

Exactly. The last couple of years everything seems serious or political. This was just fun. Even my wife, who usually doesn't like movie like this, said she was glad she watched it earlier.

I can live without the Rock tackling Shakespeare. He knows his limitations.

If someone made a real script to turn this satirical trailer into a full feature film starring the Rock, I’d be so in.

I was really surprised with the cast. I'm hard-pressed to recall any Emily Blunt movie I haven't enjoyed. There's The Rock being The Rock. Paul Giamatti. And the psychopath Todd from Breaking Bad who's an all grown up psychopath.

Fun movie. Definitely has the vibe of The Mummy or National Treasure, both of which I enjoyed.

I’m glad I didn’t know anything about this going in because this was a fun movie.

We just finished watching it; it was a cute adventure flick. Todd's Christoph Waltz impression was amusing. I'll watch Emily Blunt in almost anything.

Emily Blunt was probably the worst part of this movie. If she’s the worst part, you’ve got a decent movie on your hands.

It was so weird seeing Landry from Friday Night Lights play a German prince. I kept waiting for someone, anyone to say “Texas, Forever”, or for Emily Blunt to translate some rune that said some variety of “Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can’t Lose”

I'd actually like to see him try to get a role with a lot of depth at least once or twice. Just to see how he does.

It's a low bar but I think he'd do a lot better than any of the other well-known action heroes of yesteryear (Arnold, Stallone, Claude etc.)

Watched it today and also enjoyed it, they should be writing a sequel script right now. Just waiting for the movie where Cena and The Rock are paired up to fight crime or go undercover.

Just watched as well. That was a lot of fun. Rock and Blunt were great, as was the brother. Really enjoyed those 2 hours.
