KotOR series.

Episode I is one the worst films (not just Star Wars films) ever made.

Meh.
I like the Marvel movies but they take no risks.
Agreed. Let's aim a bit higher.

1 and 2 are serviceable, but only 3 is great. I wouldn't call any of them "amazing."

It's real simple.
Hire someone who respects the source material, and has a reverence for it, like Kevin Fiege does with Marvel.
That's part of the problem. There are ton of books post RoTJ but are now considered non canon when Disney took over.
Which is a shame as there is some good stuff they can use. At least Rebels pulled in Thrawn from the books, but still not the same. If you're a big fan of Star Wars, read at least the Thrawn trilogy if you haven't already.

There was also a ton of shite that was terrible and a lot of it contradicted other things in the EU.
There is no way you could make it cannon. Disney was right to scrap it.

As much as it pains me to say this, they should do what they seem to be doing right now.
Finish off the Skywalker films (they appear to be going for a massive Author's Saving Throw) and then let the movies lay fallow for a few years. While those are on the shelf let your excellent animated series and the newly arriving live action show do the heavy lifting of rebuilding confidence in Star Wars.
Then you come back with new movies.
Agreed.
Pick up the of this trilogy and finish it, then go back to the drawing board.
I'm interested to see the Mandalorian and where else they go, but let the movies alone for a while. The performance of Solo showed how 'out' fans are on SW right now after TLJ.
I'm extremely interested to see how TRoS performs at the box office. That'll really tell the tale of just how much damage TLJ did (or didn't) do.

Cast Brie Larson for Rian Johnson's new trilogy.

I want a dark, sinister Vader film set between episodes 3 and 4 that shows how he enforced the rule of the Empire.

KOTAR the movie, Darth Revan and the lore

There is a million directions you could go with what is currently cannon. Make a movie that loosely references what is happening with the empire and the rebellion but make it a good story.
Look at what Nolan did with Batman. He took already established source material and made something drastically different from Tim Burton and whatever monstrosity Clooney was doin but yet through a creative script, amazing cinematography, and great casting, he made a trilogy that were great films and stayed true to fans.
No reason the right person can’t do that with Sfar wars material

Disney needs to retcon the entire third trilogy by cutting to George Lucas at the end of episode 9 being startled out of a nightmare.
Then have someone who gives a frick about the material write 3 movies that make sense and aren't either retreads or deliberately undermine expectations for the sole purpose of undermining expectations.

Compared to what Disney has put out (movies and books), I'll take the EU any day. Other than Rebels, Rogue One, and the two Thrawn novels by Zahn everything else they've done is trash. I don't count Clone Wars as it started pre Disney.
Though I have hope for The Mandalorian since Favreau and Filoni are involved and thankfully it's not about Boba Fett (the most overrated character in Star Wars).
If they tie in Sabine from Rebels could be very interesting especially if it includes Ahsoka.

Been saying this forever.
I knew Disney had no clue WTF they were doing when the Fett movie was announced. Thankfully it has since been shelved, but it was a terrible idea.
