The one in my home town (Reserve) was Maurin's theatre. I still remember my dad dropping us off in his big blue Mercury station wagon and picking us up after the show was over (we were too young to think it was "uncool" to be seen with your dad dropping you off). Didn't think of it at the time but I know he got there early to make sure he was there when we got out. No telling how much time he put in waiting over the years.
For some reason, the only movies I can remember seeing there were Creature from Boggy Creek (I think it was actually Legend of Boggy Creek) and one of the Living Dead movies which we went to thinking we would scare my younger cousin but I didn't sleep good for weeks after seeing it.
The place is still there but it's been the Community Theatre for years now. I think I've only been once or twice to see a play in that time.

We were pimpin' when I was a kid in my small town.
We had the Don Theater downtown on Front Street with one screen.
We had the Cane Theater one street over on Second Street. One screen.
And we had the Chief Drive-In on Hwy 1 South (the Strip).
The Don had double features on Saturday afternoons. That's where I fell in love with movies on the big screen.
Then . . . the "talkies" came to town . . .

This isn't either of the ones in Natchez. It's one that was half a block off of the courthouse square in Kosciusko, MS.
It was like the OP said-they showed the same movie on Friday & Saturday nights. We usually went both nights as there wasn't much else to do. This was the mid 70's when there were a lot of good vampire (Christopher Lee Dracula) movies, The Omen, the original Night of the Living Dead.
You had to walk through one door, down a 15 foot dark hallway to another door to get into the rustic (think Desperado) bathroom. It had painted plywood walls (unbreakable & easy to paint), only had one commode and a lavatory. Sometimes 10 teenage guys would be in the bathroom smoking. As a fourth grader who went with my older brothers, I was scared going down the hall and even more scared opening the door to the bathroom. Always prayed it would be empty but it hardly ever was.
Found an article about this theater!

Covington had the Single screen Star theatre. It converted to two screens in the late 70's I think. There was an obese doctor in Covington, Dr Ketty, and they had a special double seat just for him. No one else would sit in it. I remember Jaws finally made it to the Star the summer after it came out everywhere else. Every Spring, they'd run Legend of Boggy Creek and Town that Dreaded Sundown to scare the kids in time for camping season. It was next to the jail so after the movie was over, you could yell insults at the inmates up on the third floor. Good times.

Cost like 75cents to see the movie.
Well that lets me know I'm a helluva lot older than you. I got a quarter to go to the movies - 15 cents to get in, 5 cents for popcorn and 5 cents for a coke. This was the very early 60's.

There's one in Aberdeen, Mississippi. I didn't see a movie there but it's apparently pretty popular when it's open on Friday/Saturday nights. It's run as a non-profit, now, I think. The workers are volunteers.
Ah, it's the Elkin Theater. More information [link=(here)]https://cinematreasures.org/theaters/8799[/link]

Anybody else here old enough to remember the small town one screen theaters that showed pretty much the same movie from Friday to Sunday and got a new one once a week?
There is still one of these in operation in Spring Hill.

There were balcony seats on each side in our oldest theater downtown next to the courthouse.

My family has a cabin in northeast Arkansas. They have an old small theater with only two screens.
