The average judicial salary in California in 2011 according to the California Bar website is between 100,000 and $200,000. In 2007, the average price of a Beverly Hills home was $2.2 million. How in the hell did uncle Phil pull off buying that mansion?

So Uncle Phil pulled in 10x the average CA lawyer's salary?

Thats what I'm thinking. That 2.2 mil is just the average house in Beverly Hills. The Banks house is upper end, I'm thinking 6 mil. They lived next door to the Reagans for God sake!

like everyone said he was a lawyer owning the house long before he became a judge. And also, everyone makes the average salary who is a lawyer, thats why they call it the average right.
There's no way the Huxtables could afford that Brownstone IMO.

Just say he earned what, maybe 200k back then. That's being generous, but not unfathomable. And a big house like that maybe ran you 1 Mil in the early 90's.
He could have pulled that off.

what's the average salary of a lawyer in los angeles?
if he was successful enough to become a judge, he was likely very, very successful in practice
he went to harvard. he likely wasn't working for some family law clinic
he's also a republican, so i doubt he was working much low-level PI
per phillip banks' wiki

At the beginning of the series, Philip is a senior partner with the firm of Firth, Wynn and Meyer
that's likely 7-figures brah

I know he was a lawyer before being a judge. But we're going with that Uncle Phil was pulling in millions as a lawyer before becoming a judge? And if that was the case, why would he give up his millions to become a judge for a fraction of the pay? He had to pay that mortgage!

if he went to a firm that hired harvard grads and made it to senior partner, you're damn skippy
who do you think affords those houses, if not for doctors and senior partners at big firms?

I know some guys that are partners or have established firms in New Orleans and have mansions on St Charles and drive multiple Bentleys. They make millions dude.
Now imagine being a main partner with a huge LA firm. The End.

Very common. Once you have more money than you know what to do with, you want power instead.

you're using 2011 salaries, 2007 home prices, CA as a whole and not LA. Your stats are just all over the place.
