How could Po have figured out the Wuxi Finger Hold himself?

Po was almost totally clueless and useless his whole life and terrible at training once he started that. Only at the very end was he able to fight well, and even that was mostly accidental.
Then all of the sudden he figures out how to do that finger hold?
Calling bullshite on skadoosh.

Once he accepted traditional training wasn't how he was going to learn martial arts he was able to look at moves in his own unique style and it was easier for him to understand.
At least that is what told myself in my head because awesome movies don't have plot holes
