This board is gong to dislike that actress I think. They are nonbinary. Looks a lot like the current princess though. Their picture is on promo material.

Also Corlys Velaryon may not have a dragon but his wife does though

So, the story originally had Hightower simply going to Dragonstone and getting the egg back, but it looks like HBO pulled a Rey Palpatine and went full Mary Sue.
The wheels are falling off. The ghouls are revealing themselves.

I see why the hand sent his daughter to the king's room after his wife and child died. Last week i just thought it was weird but now i see he was plotting.
I thought it was pretty obvious he was plotting to get his daughter to hook up with the King, he practically stated it out loud when he sent her.

There was no chance that was ending any other way than all of their deaths by dragon if Rhaenyra hadn’t showed up.
Not sure if the King showing up with a dragon would've been any better. The Princess showed restraint and diplomacy. From what we've seen of the King, he might have let his brother goad him into a fight.

Imagine if you didn’t read any books or watch the original GoT. After 2 episodes, I would give up.
There is absolutely nothing about this show that requires knowledge of anything else to understand what is going on. Sure it would enhance your viewing if you watched GoT or read the books, but it certainly isn't necessary.

Somehow for me this episode's memorable scene was the king talking to the twelve year old girl and her "not until I'm fourteen" comment.
Creeped me out, big time.
Creeped me out, big time.

You sure you know what a Mary Sue is? She flew a dragon and talked Valyrian with her uncle, both things already demonstrated in the show.
I don't like the show but this take is ridiculous

"Mary Sue" "Deus Ex"
Do some of you even know what these terms actually mean?
Nothing in that scene fits either of those descriptions.
Episode 1 and 2 pretty clearly establishes Rhaenyra as a very capable dragon rider and smart beyond her years in navigating family and court politics with a bit of naivety that leads to good and bad over confidence. That her and Daemon have a complicated relationship but not one of pure hate, for now. And that scene was set up through episode 1 and 2 from Rhaenyra's desire to prove herself and also rebel against her father trying to isolate her. Daemon wanting to embarass and show Viserys as weak but not start a full on war, Rhaenyra clearly understands the need to show commensurate force to threats. Like picking Cole cause he actually has experience where it matters.
The show also established Viserys to be, well, a terrible king in the ways of statecraft and strategy. He's benign in all the ways you'd want a king if you were a citizen under his rule, but in Martin's world, weakness and ruling by emotion and not good politics gets you and others killed(See: Rob Stark).

Enjoying this series so far. I went into ep. 1 with a somewhat negative attitude, ready to nit pick. However, I'm all in now. Great episode 2, and I am ready for more.
This series and the universe has a tone of potential.

Dude, they made her a lesbian superchick. Step away from the forest.
It's not a bad show. It looks great and the acting is good. Honestly, I think a lot of it is GoT fatigue. It's hard to give a shite about this world, given what happened, so when anything resembling their usual activist routine pops up, it's amplified.
But hey, I'm still here, though there was once again a shocking lack of titties.

Because she can ride a dragon? She's not the only female in the show who can ride a dragon

You keep calling her lesbian but there’s been nothing on the show to establish she’s lesbian (or Alicent, like you claimed before).
And to add to your “Mary Sue” criticism, Hightower has already shown he is in for the elevation of his family.
The scene where they’re picking the next Kingsguard showed he was less concerned about having a competent soldier to defend his current King (and in the future, Rhaenyra) and more about picking the Knight with the strongest connections that will support HIS family. He’s not flawless.
It makes sense she wouldn’t trust him to get the job done.

They are the only part of this show that scares me. They have very little acting experience and will probably be the weakest actor on the show. The current version is probably the best part of the show for me right now. She's knocking this out of the park after 2 episodes
