Really wish those of y’all who have read the books would chill out on the spoilers.

Nothing blatant but everyone’s trying to speak in code/be subtle but are actually revealing quite a bit.

I'm thinking they had the gate/entrance to the pit locked (on the outside)and under heavy guard which would explain why she had came up though the floor. But how in the world did she survive going through a presumably thick stone floor on dragon back?

Last night when I posted that I had just finished watched this episode. That's why I started by saying I would read this thread in due time. So now I've caught up to the end of the thread.

Still think she should have roasted them all but understand why she did not.

Larys is creepy for sure but he’s nowhere near the top of that list.

Larys is this show's Littlefinger.

And even though Alicent gets to him first he is still keeping Otto as hand. It’s really not changing much. Otto can still send mercenaries to kill rhay and daemon without Alicent or Aegon. They’ve obviously been plotting and planning behind their back for years. No need to change now

Big different though is if Otto gets to Aegon first, he can convince Aegon to give the order to have Daemon and Rhaenyra assassinated.

If Alicent gets to Aegon first and convinces him to spare his sister and uncle, but Otto orders them killed anyway...Otto knows once Alicent or Aegon find out about it that he's going to be removed as hand and probably executed for treason.

the season finale is gonna be a home run, so the 2 year wait is gonna be horrifying. i bet episode 1 season 2 will shatter viewership records.

Am I to understand that it will be two years before season 2 comes out?

they haven't started filming/producing season 2 yet and internet rumors claim it will start filming in spring next year.

i don't see how we get the show in 2023 considering the type of scenes they have to film (lots of dragons and military stuff)

Supposedly season 2 won't be done filming until sometime in the summer. Add in a ton of CGI needing to be done for dragon battles...and 2 years or close to it seems likely

If I’m HBO, I pay whatever it takes to shorten that to a year.

If it really has to be two years, find some way to force the fat man to either publish the next book in the main series or the second book in the Targaryen history.

Dammit. There were a couple of seasons of The Sopranos that were two years apart and the wait was brutal.

fans are still paying the price for the shite ending to GoT.

new showrunners were afraid of filming successive season in one go, thinking season 1 might fail because of fan bitterness.

thanks D&D

Why didn't Frodo simply fly on an eagle to Mount Doom and drop the ring in from above?

None of that means she wants to kill so many members of her own family in that manner. She got away and got her message across that they failed in keeping her locked up. That they messed up by trying to in the first place. She's taking her dragon to inform Rhaenyra about what happened and she wanted them to know that.

The point is made when she bursts through the floor. She should have headed straight for the door. Staring down the Greens was just dumb. You don't spare "Family" that clearly showed you that they view you as the enemy and are most likely gonna kill you when they get a chance.

And if you want to take the family angle, I think Rhanys has a ton more allegiance to her two granddaughters than her cousin in law that imprisoned her.

We needed a penultimate scene, so we tried to come up with: What’s the worst thing that could possibly happen at the coronation? And realized that it was a dragon to be let loose.

This proves that they created the scene for Drama in the episode and by forcing Dramatics, they made a character act without logic.

quote:

Condal: She knows if she set fire to that dais, she ends any possibility of war, and probably sets peace throughout the realm, but I think probably doesn’t want to be responsible for doing that to another mother. And it’s a complex choice, and one that people might dispute or have a problem with. But that’s the choice Rhaenys makes in that moment.

Their explanation is hollow. Its an explanation that makes no sense for someone that was in Rhaenys's position. The reason she didn't prevent the war was cuz she felt bad for the mother??? Thats a D&D level Load of shite. Mothers would do anything to protect their own, they wouldn't let a war that will most assuredly kill their family happen because they felt sorry for the enemy.

we talk about killing innocents but technically all those citizens committed treason by acknowledging Aegon as King.

Awesome episode, but my personal MVP, as was the case in many episodes of GOT and Westworld was Ramin Djawadi and his score.
