Consider that next time you check their score before seeing a new movie.

I usually wait until after I see the film to check the RT score. I hate to go into a movie knowing people love/hate it.

Sandlot 57%
Spaceballs 58%
Die Hard with a Vengeance 52%
Tommyboy 42%
Grandmaws Boy 16%
Billy Madison 46%
Home Alone 54%
Jingle all the way 17%

I view all these and OP as must own movies...

I find that RT critic ratings are useless for older movies.

Black Panther: 97%. It was OK, but come on. 97%? RT lost its credibility with that one forever.

It's a shitty movie that has existed off of the nostalgia of 90's children and their forcing it upon their children.

I doubt that any adults left those theaters entertained.

Get Out was a really good movie. But it's not better than Saving Private Ryan, Schindler's List, Empire Strikes Back, The Godfather, ET, Taxi Driver, The Deer Hunter, Lawrence of Arabia.....

Hook is an objectively awful movie. 28% isn't bad for it.

I still like it and there is a nostalgia factor for sure.

I've noticed this with my wife.
With the shift in movies to better AI, and more action.
It has become way less about the plot.
And much more about the experience.

The long-time, believed to be dead, stuffed alligator comes alive to finish off Hook. Providing closure to the story by eliminating the bad-guy. No lose ends. Happy ending.
---- people looking for the plot holes.... smh.

We all like Hook b/c we saw it as kids. If we saw it for the first time as adults we would be way less forgiving of that movie's many flaws.

Why is it so hard for this board to understand that the RT score is just the percentage of critics who gave the movie a 6/10 or above? It's not the actual average review score.
