Honest question about race source material and movies/tv shows

If you didn't read the books or see previous movies, how much would it matter to you, could you enjoy it for what it is? I think I could, case in point is The last of Us they go WAY off the source material but it's a good tv show.

The games are awful and the show is even worse. Bad example.

The first game was awesome

Case by case basis.
I've given a couple examples before.
Red in Shawshank was a pasty white Irish dude with red hair. Morgan Freeman nailed that part, so now he IS Red.
Heimdal in Norse Mythology is actually called "the whitest of gods", but in the Marvel movies, Idris Elba plays the part so well that his appearance is not relevant.

Is it a good show? Haven’t the season 2 ratings plummeted? We only watched the first episode.
But to answer your question, I think a viewer can enjoy watching a show without an investment in the source material, including the perception of what a character is supposed to look like.
For example, I am not a Tolkeinite, therefore, black elves and hobbits don’t bother me. However, the show was shite, and that’s why I only made it about five episodes.

Quick way to announce you have zero credibility though at least.

Of course. If you were not able to enjoy a movie or show that doesn't have race swaps you would virtually not be able to enjoy any show or movie made for the rest of time.
The Last of us though is a terrible example. The show sucks. But it's not even because they veer off from source, the writers just legitimately suck at writing a show.

I hate this one because they wasted Idris Elba on a bit part. Even with expanding Heimdall's role as far as they could, they still wasted Idris Elba.
This is one of those times when it was dumb to cast a black dude as a white "god," but also they wasted an amazing actor on a garbage part to do it.

Should have made him the next Captain America right? Then people wouldn't have cared since it would have been an amazing actor playing Cap.

I have no idea what you mean. There is no problem with the Falcon becoming Captain America and Anthony Mackie is doing a decent job in that role with the absolutely subpar writing and plots he's gotten.

It only bothers me when it doesn't make sense from a cultural or anthropological perspective, so you know it was done for DEI. A black Norse god makes about as much sense as a white Wakandan.

Common knowledge on the internet is that everyone loved the first game. Second game went too woke. That's not Tigerdropping's talk. That's internet talk.
First game, 37 million copies sold vs sequel selling only 10 million copies. Did Tigerdroppings do that all by it's little self?
Let's talk about your credibility....

Never played it or saw the series.
Don’t care.
“ race source material “?
Question is kinda hard to understand too, so…
Who was swapped?

Both games were rated similarly great. 10 million copies sold for TLOU2 seems like a really good number as well. TLOU1 only sold 8 million on its initial PS3 release.

Those raters are paid shills who get money from Sony and other developers to give high scores.

15k is a very low number for a AAA title. Not enough sample size

I don't care about a black Snape in the new Harry Potter show. I truly don't.
It was London in the 1990s.

Yep same with the shitty Percy Jackson show they are doing right now. Most of the characters are race swapped
