I saw Headhunters yesterday and loved it.

The Raid won best Foreign Film on this board.

What are the boards thoughts on both.
If you have seen them both can you compare them?

TIA

Never heard of Headhunters, but loved The Raid. About to look it up.

I thought The Raid sucked.

I think I'm past big, action set-pieces when that's all there is to watch. Yeah, it was non-stop action, had incredible choreography, but it was just a modern kung fu movie with machine guns mixed in. It was too much, it got boring. And like any Asian movie, it has no falling action. Why do most all Asian movies do that? It's always bothered me.

Never seen Headhunters.

Well then Headhunters is nothing like that. Plot twists and a solid flick. I recommend it

I still need to get around to watching Headhunters, heard nothing but good things.

But I think it would be hard for two films to be farther from being alike than Raid and Headhunters.

One is a twisty theft drama and the other is a straight up tony jaa style martial arts action fest.

I love the Raid redemption, but it's not a movie you watch for plot.

Headhunters was great and I rarely get into foreign films. Kind of watched in on a whim and am glad I decided to keep it on. The Kingslayer alone made it worth it.

I've seen both and they are so different that it makes it hard to compare. One's a balls to the wall action while the other is a drama with a smart, twisty narrative. Both are excellent in what they achieve to do.

I don't care if it's Ichi the Killer or Crouching Tiger, they always end about a minute after the climax. There's never a denouemont (sp?), or only the minimalist resolution.
