Seems like her desire to turn Bond into a generic content factory like Disney did to Marvel and Star Wars was the final nail. You can’t spend that much to acquire Bond and then immediately piss off the producer.

Look into the Wachowski BDSM rabbit hole. Basically two dudes who were Hollywood outsiders made a gigantic hit - The Matrix (how much of it they ripped from the Dark City script that had been floating around is another story entirely). All of the sudden they are the talk of Hollywood. Larry Wachowski starts becoming a mainstay at a notorious Hollywood BDSM club called the dungeon where on a nightly basis gets loaded up with shots of Ketamine and engages in degenerate sex. Eventually leaves his wife for a known LA dominatrix Isla Strix. Aaaaaand the next thing you know he’s a transgender.
Rolling Stone did an article covering this like 20 years ago but it conveniently got memory holed.
And yes I fully believe they totally ripped off Dark City for The Mattix. There’s a reason why everything else they ever made as an original idea was bad.

Rings of Power was complete trash. The only redeeming quality is that it's pretty to look at.
