Yes, Training Day, Man on Fire and Remember the Titans are all lovely movies. Totally agreed he's a top 5 actor of all time.
What about one of his more under-appreciated release? One that kinda counts as a cult hit...
Virtuosity. IMHO the movie was way ahead of its time. It also had a stellar "that guy before they became that guy" cast. Fichtner, Forsythe, and a young Kaley Cuoco. To say nothing of Kelly Lynch and Russell Crowe.
Yeah, it gets shite on a lot but i must have seen this movie a hundred times back in the day.

Crimson Tide is peak young Denzel + peak old Hackman made during a time that Hollywood was still churning out bangers. it's almost a perfect movie.
cant beat it.
cant beat it.

The Book of Eli - always enjoyed that one.

Fences was terrible.
American Gangster is my favorite Denzel movie but not his best performance. I liked him as Coach Boone.

Oh yes. Seen it once. Will never watch again. Some dark shite in that one, but it was basically his apex paycheck era.

Man on Fire for me. One that hasn't been mentioned yet was The Equalizer, love when he just wrecks shite in the home improvement store

Only Denzel movie I eventually turned off. All his rambling and over the top acting was overdone and gave me a headache.

Fair. It’s from a play.
Dialogue heavy.

I can't actually pick but that is a movie I never get tired of. Just well done. I actually loved his performance in Fences, Training Day is legendary, and American Gangster is one of my favorites. I'd probably go with Man on Fire for one scene. After all the badassery at the end when Pita gets out of the car and he finally sees that yes she's still alive he just lets out this single exhale, and it's such an incredible small acting moment. After seeing how it ends you can almost tell that breath of relief was it for him. That's also when the damn waterworks start for me

I think Gene Hackman is the most watchable actor of all time.

Man on Fire is hard to beat, he has made so many good upper tier movies. I actually liked Flight which hasn't been named. He might have drank a lot but he still worked hard to take care of business.
