Has there ever been a better story arc for a character other than Riddick?

Just revisiting the riddick movies and man his character is just awesome! He’s basically an anti hero. Not sure if they’ll ever try and reinvent this character but with vin diesel getting old I can’t see anyone else carrying the torch.

I know most will joke in this thread but those movies were all good in their own way.
I thought he mentioned he was going to make another one after the upcoming final fast and furious movie. It's his passion project and his own character he created.

Thank you! Mr. Sarcastic Man! He’s not the greatest but has is a very unique character. I was lazy but still! Can you think of anyone ever that could capture Riddicks character the same way vin diesel did?

Yea after rewatching Pitch black and chronicles I think we need more riddick but can vin diesel still deliver the magic?

I love the franchise but man, is there a harder pivot between Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick in movie history?
I also love go Vin Deisel pumps out FF so he can fund his weird nerdy D&D campaigns turned movies.

Pitch Black was surprisingly good. The other movies are modern Sci-Fi slop. The character is fine, it wasn’t ruined even though the movies around him were dumb. You could continue with a recast if you went small budget with some intelligence behind the story and direction.

It was interesting because Riddick really wasn't the center of the story. Kind of rare an interesting side character becomes the feature in a franchise. If The Fast and the Furious was never a hit, Universal probably wouldn't have made the other Riddick movies.

Yea, I think Diesel produced the sequels and the FF movies paid for that I’m sure. The guy who directed Pitch Black had written some good movies like The Fugitive and GI Jane. I think he wrote Watererworld as well but I don’t know if he’s directed anything of note outside of the Riddick movies.

I’m as big a fan of Riddick as there is, but the movie Riddick was basically a retelling of Pitch Black , except the girl comes back and saves him.
I heard there was plans for a fourth movie, not sure where that stands though.

As a giant nerd of all three movies, I think his character arc is a worthwhile glance.
Space horror will always bring me in.
I could take or leave Chronicles of Riddick but first and third are good movies.
