The governor is lame. Extremely lame. Because of this, everyone around his storyline has to try too damn hard to compensate for his inept ability to be a villain.
We've gotten too much of Andrea, not enough of Milton, and a half-assed version of an apocalyptic army.
When the governor is gone (I'm scared he will survive the finale), the show will hopefully be more interesting and more about survival and less about the writers' weak ability to create tension amongst characters.
Pretty much all of this.

TWD peaked in its very first episode. It's become a melodrama with crappy characters and no real tension. Who am I pulling for again and why?
I guess the zombies, so they can kill off all the characters and reboot the series with better writers.

It's a shame more fans haven't read the source material.
Too bad the writers didn't stick to the source material. It would be a better show.

I guess it all comes down to your preference - story or action. I loved season two, mainly because of the way Shane's character slowly transformed. I like seeing how relationships evolve or erode, but it seems like most people on this board only want to see zombies getting curb stomped or rambo-type battles. That's lame to me, but to each their own.
The problem for me is that they have done a very poor job in all of the so-called "story" episodes of the show. The characters are not well-developed, the acting is awful at times, and the plot is all over the place.
I know "awards, who cares" but there is a reason the show hasn't been nominated for anything major. It is because the acting, writing and production has been down right bad minus a couple episodes. Not to mention however many writers and producers they have fired.
It's like the show uses all of it's money on making the zombies look bad-arse (which I admit the zombies look awesome) but has nothing left to give to anything else.
I have read all the comics, I know the potential the series has.

Ever since I read all the comics last summer, the show has just been awful in comparison.

All movies are guilty of this and most shows except Game of Thrones.
Imagine if the Movie Jurassic park started with the kid in the crib being eaten by a dinosaur? Then I think the sequels would have been 100% better.

But it seems this last half season has been mostly filler. It's become humans vs. humans with zombies sprinkled in. Hell they even deglamourized the zombie part of it by watering them down. Rarely do you see hordes of zombies. It's always a few in a critical situation and they handle them with ease.
If you look at just the 2nd half of the season, it might be a little slow. But the first half was pretty much packed with action both human/zombie and human/human and IMO tension also.
Season 3 has had:
Michone with her Katana.
The clearing of the prison.
The Gov. killing an army crew.
Hershell being bitten and having axe sugery on his leg.
The aquarium o' heads.
Rick offing a couple of prisoners.
Zombies getting into the prison through the sabotage of that one prisoner.
Carl shooting Lori to keep her from turning.
T-Dawg being eaten alive.
Merle beating the hell out of Glenn.
The Gov getting rapey with Maggie.
Michone putting her sword through the head of the gov's "daughter"
Michone putting a shard of glass through the gov's eye.
Axel getting a head shot out of the blue.
Rick and crew going Rambo on Woodbury.
The Gov unleashing a zombie bomb on the prison.
T-Dawg v. 2 biting the dust.
Michone walking to the fence through a herd of Walkers.
The woman with Tyrese dieing from her injuries and being put down with the old trusty hammer to the hankerchief covered head.
Morgan "clearing" after his wife bit his son
Andrea strapped in a dentist chair - with her mouth taped shut!
Merle bringing a herd to negotiation camp and unleashing them on the goon squad
Zombie Merle

And yet...it's STILL boring because through ALL that there was hardly any real tension because no one cares about the retarded characters.

To each his own my friend. We all have our own opinions and that's what makes for good discussions.
IMO, it's not a perfect show but I enjoy it. There are "plot device" characters like Andrea and Lori but there are characers I think are good also like Merle and Darryl.

I like Darryl. Right now, he's the only character that's acting in such a way that's believable.

If you hate the show so much, why do you still watch it?
